The chairman of the 'Evaluation Institute of Regional Public Corporation', a think tank supporting local public enterprises, is Mr. Choi Chi-gook (age 59) from Pukyong National University.

The interview with our alumnus Mr. Choi was introduced as a top box article on page 21 of the Kookje Daily News on 14th, September and caught the public's attention.

Mr. Choi, the 12th Chairman of the 'Evaluation Institute of Regional Public Corporation' at 30-gil, Banpo-daero, Seocho-gu, Seoul, is an alumnus who had enrolled in 1981 in Architectural Engineering Department at Pukyong National University.

Evaluation Institute of Regional Public Corporation is a legal institution that professionally supports local public enterprises. It carries out policy research, validity confirmation, management evaluation, consulting, and educational training for local public institutions. It is said that there are about 1,100 institutions including local public enterprises.

In March 1992, it started as the Local Autonomous Management Association, Inc., and in June 2016, it became the Evaluation Institute of Regional Public Corporation under the Local Public Enterprise Act. The Planning & Operation Office, Research & Evaluation Headquarters, and Training & Education Centers are major organizations, with 35 employees and 380 professional researchers.

On the day, the article introduced the role and current issues of the Evaluation Institute of Regional Public Corporation, which is somewhat unfamiliar to the general reader, through an interview with Choi Alumni, titled 'If local public companies and metropolitan areas cooperate, synergies increase.'

This article said, "Mr. Choi is the first person from the region has been appointed as the chairman of the Evaluation Institute." and additionally introduced, "Mr. Choi received a master's degree in architectural engineering from Pukyong National University, a master's degree in traffic engineering from Hongik University, and a doctorate in urban engineering from Pusan National University. Since then, he has served as a senior researcher at the Busan Research Institute and head chief of the Korea Policy Contribution Institute (KPCI), and has been developing urban policy for over 20 years in the region.

In this article, Mr. Choi said, "I have been thinking a lot about regional development plans in the region and have developed related policies as well. The main task of the evaluator is also stabilizing the lives of local resident, and the experience gained so far helps a lot in the work. I will do my best to revive the local economy with a focus on local public enterprises and to stabilize the lives of local resident."
