Pukyong National University produced three successful candidates in the 'Test of Grade 7 Local Talents Trainees of 2020' hosted by the Ministry of Human Personnel Management (MPM).

Pukyong National University succeeded in listing three names in the list of candidates who passed the exam, Choi Jae-hyeok (Class of 13', Dept. of Law), Jang Hyeon-chang (Class of 13', Division of Business Administration) in the administrative section, and Kim Na-young (Class of 15', Marine Biology) in the technical section.

According to the announcement of the results of successful candidates from the Ministry of Personnel Management on 3, September, a total of 145 people passed the exam this year, including 90 in the administrative section and 55 in the technology section.

The test of Grade 7 Local Talents Trainees of 2020 was introduced in 2005 to reinforce the regional representation of public offices and diversify the recruitment route by hiring local talents. Those who graduated within the top 10% of the department grades recommended by the president of a 4-year university are selected through a written test (PSAT), document screening, and interview.

Those who passed this exam will be officially appointed to Grade 7 Civil Service after completing basic training for adapting to public offices and improving job skills in the first half of next year, working as a probationary for one year at a central administrative agency, and evaluating work performance.

Pukyong National University is operating a program to support applicants for the test of Grade 7 Local Talents Trainees, and it has produced a total of 48 successful candidates for 16 years. <Pukyong Today>

The following are the secrets and aspirations of those who passed this year.

○ Choi Jae-hyeok (Class of 13', Dept. of Law)

After being selected by school recommendation, I started preparing for PSAT. From early January, I went to the study room and took lectures on the Internet. I had difficulty studying the field of data analysis because of the weak calculation side, so I tried to understand by constantly practicing calculation and reading related textbooks. I was able to prepare for my weaknesses by repeatedly solving the existing PSAT problems, learning the trends of the questions, and identifying the types of weaknesses for each type. I think that it is essential to register and prepare for the interview. I learned the basic theory through the academy, and through the interview practice in front of experts and the study with the students of the academy, my speaking skills has improved and I was able to pass the interview.
I would like to apply to the Ministry of Government Legislation. While studying law, I thought that difficult terms, Japanese expressions, and Chinese characters made it difficult for the public to understand the law. So, I want to help the people understand the law by applying to the Legal Affairs Office and taking charge of the statutory maintenance work to improve related laws.

○ Jang Hyeon-chang (Class of 13', Division of Business Administration)

I applied for the job as a Grade 7 local talented civil servant because the achievements cultivated during university days can be utilized and there are two attractive points of being able to work in public offices. I have actively used internet lectures. I made full use of megaPSAT's T-pass, and from January, I participated in the in-school PSAT study. I think this PSAT study was very helpful. The academy tells you about the interview study and the interview process, and if you trust the program and follow it, I think there will be good results in the interview. As for the advice that I can give you about the interview, it is recommended that you continue to study without taking your mind loose.

○ Kim Na-young (Class of 15', Marine Biology)

Because the test time itself is long, I first did cardio exercise for 30 minutes every day and paid attention to my fitness. Since then, my main study has focused on analyzing previous problems. I only invested in the PSAT for about 50 hours each week and took enough break, so it seems that I was able to continue studying without getting tired even if the test was postponed. I lived in Seoul for about 3 months and went to an academy to prepare for an interview. The most helpful was the fact that the academy shared data with the study members and checked the points that were pointed out during the practice. Personally, I carefully prepared a record of my experiences, read academy textbooks, and reports from the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF). I hope to work in the Department of Marine Ecology or the Fisheries Resource Management of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries. There, I will work hard for a world in which Korea's 'Clean sea, abundant fishing Grounds' are preserved in the future.
