The words of the technician CEO who carved out 150 billion companies with empty hands
“I thought I could make money by doing so-called 3D jobs that others avoid."
- The Kookje Daily News, Introduction of a full interview with CEO, Park Soo-bok of Daelyuk Plating

Park Soo-bok, the alumnus of Pukyong National University, was featured in <Gu Si-young's People & Society> of the Kookje Daily News.

It was an interview filled out on the 10th page of this newspaper, published on the 30th of last month.

Mr. Park Soo-bok (age 75) is the CEO of Daelyuk Plating Co.,Ltd., an automobile parts plating company located in Sinpyeong-dong, Saha-gu, Busan.

Mr. Park is remembered as the person who brought honor to his alma mater, Pukyong National University, and is an alumnus who is regarded as the pride of his juniors.

There is a classroom at Pukyong National University, named after his nickname, 'Dajeong'. it is the name of the large 200-seat lecture room on the first floor of the Hanmir building in Yongdang Campus.

He is a technician CEO who graduated from the Department of Machinery at Busan Technical High School, the matrix of Pukyong National University, in 1965. (The tradition of Busan Technical High School was later passed on to the Busan Technical High School and Busan National University of Technology, and in 1996 these schools became Pukyong National University after incorporation with the National Fisheries University of Pusan.)

On this day, the article in the Kookje Daily News introduced, "(Mr. Park's) pride and willingness for technology are different from others. After graduating from Busan Technical High School in 1965, he started off pennilessly at the age of 32, the reason why he was able to establish an automobile parts plating company with annual sales of 150 billion won was because his continuous technological development was his biggest motivation."

The article added, "With such efforts, Daelyuk Plating Co., Ltd. has risen to the top in the radiator grill and bumper section in Korea. They have technology that is comparable to anywhere in the world. This is because most of Hyundai Motor's radiator grills, such as Genesis, are produced and supplied with global automakers as major customers."

Especially, this sentence caught my eyes among what Mr. Park said in the article.

“I thought I could make money by doing so-called 3D jobs (dirty, difficult and dangerous) that others avoid."

How did you come up with the plating industry, which was counted as the worst 3D job?

In the article, Mr. Park said, "In the 1970s, the plating technology in Korea was at a very poor level. It was a time when there was only metal plating and no plastic plating. So, when it comes to plating, I decided to learn unconditionally. I bought and studied Japanese books, and I also eagerly attended overseas education hosted by the Small and Medium Business Corporation. Collected materials while pursuing plating-related exhibitions in the United States and Europe. I kept asking what I didn't know, consulting experts, and learning the skills."

He counted filial affection and reading as one of his own talent for life.

Mr. Park said in this article, "The filial love comes from humanity and sincerity, and is the foundation of society as well," and he added, " If your willingness is clear, you should know a lot about the field. Therefore, reading is important. "With these two, I think there is nothing we can't do in the world," he stressed. <Pukyong Today>
