PKNU, selected for the '2nd period of CAMPUS Asia-AIMS Project'
- Carrying forward a plan for ROK-ASEAN Global Talent Cultivation ... approx. 7 million won project cost over 5 years
Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) has been selected for the ‘2nd period of CAMPUS Asia-AIMS Project’ by the Ministry of Education.
‘CAMPUS Asia-AIMS’ is a project promoted to create a foundation for cooperation between Korea and ASEAN countries by promoting the education of students in these countries.
Pukyong National University participated in the 1st-period project from 2019, and as the university was selected for the 2nd-period project, it will receive up to 700 million won in support for 5 years until 2026.
Accordingly, Pukyong National University, led by the AIMS project team (Director Park Sang-Hyun, Division of International and Area Studies), will push ahead with the 'Talent nurturing program with Korea-ASEAN language and culture-based tourism-commerce-international development cooperation' following the 1st-period project under the supervision of the AIMS Project Team.
The project team actively engaged in international exchanges such as dispatching undergraduate students from the Division of International and Area Studies to departments related to language, culture, and international trade at universities in the Philippines, Vietnam, and Malaysia, including the National University of Malaya. Also, the team attracted international students from ASEAN countries to the Division of International and Area Studies of Pukyong National University.
In particular, the team was evaluated as an excellent project team for the 1st period in recognition of its achievements, most notably in conducting online education and seminars despite the difficult conditions caused by Corona 19.
Through the 2nd period of this project, the project team plans to expand the target countries and universities for dispatch to the ASEAN region and promote international exchange activities such as systematically supporting students participating in the program.
Professor Park Sang-Hyun, director of the AIMS project team, said, "Through this project, I expect that universities in ASEAN countries, including Korea, will provide opportunities for students to develop practical global competencies by sharing educational curricula with students and promoting joint cooperative projects." <Pukyong Today>
