PKNU student received the Excellence Award in an idea contest of the 60th anniversary of KAMCO
- With the idea of using an empty house as a complex cultural space for youth
Kim Ha-Rim (4th grader), a student from the Department of Public Administration at Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo), won the 2nd prize, the Excellence Award, in the 'Business Idea Contest for the 60th anniversary of the founding of KAMCO' hosted by the Korea Asset Management Corporation (KAMCO).
In this contest held by KAMCO to discover commemorative projects that can contribute to the people and the local community, Kim Ha-Rim received excellent evaluations for the idea of 'Bean House: From an empty house to a space for young people to bear fruit'.
This idea was recognized for its excellence as a proposal to reorganize empty houses and abandoned buildings on national land so that they can be used as cultural complex spaces for young people to realize their dreams, paying attention to the fact that the increase in empty houses in big cities causes various social problems.
The most distinguished feature of this idea is to support young entrepreneurs taking advantage of the regional characteristics with empty houses to solve the problem of rent burden on small business owners, which acts as a stumbling block for young entrepreneurs.
Kim Ha-Rim gave an opinion that using regional specialties to support young people to start a restaurant business or, support a studio to young people who dream of becoming poets in an area with a large elderly population, also support the operation of a poetry academy for the elderly at the same time.
She said, "If the project is carried out, I think that the youth will revitalize the area and, as a result, the surrounding commercial area will become lively. I expect that KAMCO will be able to fulfill its social responsibilities as a public institution and achieve profitability as it can provide opportunities for young people to realize their dreams." <Pukyong Today>
