PKNU expands its 'Metaverse' lecture platform

Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) has started to promote the overall expansion of the 'Metaverse' lecture platform to improve the quality of untact lectures and provide students with a more dynamic curriculum.

Pukyong National University announced on January 13 that it had completed the construction of the Pukyong National University Metaverse, a virtual campus equipped with lecture rooms, consulting rooms, and meeting rooms that can be used for subject classes and non-subject classes.

Pukyong National University has created an environment where professors and students can connect to the metaverse lecture platform as an online character, an avatar, through a computer or mobile device and provides an environment where students can take lessons dynamically.

Unlike recent attempts to apply the metaverse platform to specific events or individual programs such as entrance ceremonies and graduation ceremonies, this is quite unique in that the metaverse platform has been built to support entire university lectures. Pukyong National University implemented the platform by reconfiguring the form of the existing metaverse platform, which is currently being actively applied to companies, to suit the university lecture environment.

Using this platform, it is possible for instructors and students to simultaneously connect at a set time, like existing untact video conferencing programs, to attend lectures, have a conversation, or share documents and videos. In addition, since the virtual world does not disappear and is always maintained, you can access the platform at any time to conduct discussions, meetings, and group tasks.

Pukyong National University has built a general classroom that has enough room for up to 25 students, a medium-sized classroom for up to 50 students, a large-scale lecture room with a capacity for 51 people, a consulting room, and a conference room so that all lectures can use this platform. The university will also provide programs such as quiz games that can be applied to lectures using the platform characteristics.

Pukyong National University will receive an application in February and provide a virtual classroom to all professors who wish to use the Metaverse lecture platform. The platform will be carried out starting in March when the first semester lectures are opened.
