PKNU reorganized General Education Curriculum into two, 'Required' and 'Balanced' courses
- Graduation requirements at least 40 credits including 9 for required subjects · 31 credits for Balanced subjects

Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) completely reorganizes and operates the general education curriculum, including changing the general education curriculum from the existing three-way system to a two-way system.
Pukyong National University reformed general education from the existing three-way system of core, balanced, and expanded general education curriculum to a two-way system of required (9 credits or more) and balanced (31 credits or more) general education starting in 2022 with the launch of the College of Liberal Arts.
The purpose of this reorganization is to reflect the university's specialization policy by organizing a general education curriculum based on core competency for realization of core values along with the establishment of the Pukyong National University's concept of talent. The goal is to train 'Pukyong people' by arranging subjects for each of the six core competencies.
With this reorganization, students must complete at least 40 credits in the required and balanced general education designed around the six core competencies, △leading learning, △consilience of thinking, △divergent connection, △cooperative communication, △cultural magnanimity, and △social practice to meet the graduation requirements.
When taking a balanced general education course, it is required to complete one subject for each of the six core competencies, including at least one in each of ‘Human Culture’, ‘Social History’, and ‘Natural Science and Technology’.
However, students enrolled in the 2020-2021 school year or who changed a major need to complete at least 40 credits for graduation regardless of the existing three-way system. In addition, students admitted before the 2019 academic year or who have changed major must follow the graduation requirements for general education course in the year of admission.
