PKNU student received a Presentation Award from the Korean Society of Coastal and Marine Engineering

- Park Seong-Sik of Ocean Engineering

Park Seong-Sik (1 year, Ph.D.) from the Department of Ocean Engineering at Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) received the Academic Presentation Award from the Korean Society of Coastal and Marine Engineering (KSCOE).

At the recent regular conference of the Society, Park was selected for an excellent thesis and received an award for his thesis, 'Prediction of dissolved oxygen concentration in the Nakdong River Estuary through a case study based on a Long Short Term Memory model' (Advisory Prof. Kim Kyung-Hoi).

The paper presented by Park at the 29th Fall Conference of the Korea Society of Coastal and Marine Engineering last year, has been recognized for its excellence in the academia, defined the research results of model conditions and predictive variables suitable for the prediction of dissolved oxygen concentration (DO) in the Nakdong River Estuary.

In this study, he conducted a case study to select optimal model conditions and suitable predictors for the prediction of dissolved oxygen concentration in the Nakdong River Estuary by using a deep learning-based LSTM (Long Short-Term Memory) model, and he presented the LSTM model conditions and predictive variables suitable for the prediction of dissolved oxygen concentration, which received good evaluation at the conference.

Meanwhile, Park received a thesis award from the Korean Society for Marine Environment and Energy (KOSMEE) for his research on the prediction of dissolved oxygen concentration in the coast last year, and his research achievements are being recognized. <Pukyong Today>
