Pukyong National University (president Jang Young-Soo) has been finally selected for 'support program developing convergent engineering researchers’ under the auspices of the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT).
Being operated since 2007, this project is to support the college of engineering to establish a direction for innovation in engineering education, develop and operate engineering education programs that meet the needs of the industry and the characteristics of the university, to nurture creative engineering talents and to enhance the global competitiveness in engineering education.
Pukyong National University has been selected as the highest score (1st) among the applied universities, because of the evaluation of the 'IoT home appliance' industry in the 'Next-generation lifestyle' category in this project, it will be supported 1.3 billion won for up to 6 years.
As selected for this project, Pukyong National University plans to operate various programs, including △industry demand-specialized education (IoT home appliance), △capstone design, △business link programs, △entrepreneurship competency strengthening programs, and △literary programs to cultivate engineering talents for engineering students through the Innovative Center for Engineering Education (director Son Min-Young).
Pukyong National University was selected for the stage 1 (for 5 years) of this project in 2007, and after being selected for the stage 2 (10 years) in 2012, it was selected successively this year for the third phase (6 years), and at the same time, the university has been recognized for its excellence in engineering education with the achievement of being selected three times in a row (2018, 2020 and 2021) in the title of Innovative Centers for Engineering Education in Southeast Universities of the Year (Best Prize).
Son Min-Young, director of the Innovative Centers for Engineering Education, said, "As selected for this project, we will develop and operate a variety of IoT home appliance industry programs to nurture creative and convergence engineering talents and advance the College of Engineering to respond to new industries in the future and to nurture outstanding local talent." <Pukyong Today>
