Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) announced that it had the most 6 research teams among universities in Busan in the 'Support Project of Female graduate students in Engineering Research Team in 2022' hosted by the Women in Science, Engineering and Technology Center (WISET).
This project is being carried out to support female graduate students who are in charge of research with university students in science and engineering to carry out research tasks voluntary, enhance research capabilities and leadership, and grow into excellent R&D manpower.
Pukyong National University female graduate students selected for this project are five including Kim Bo-Ram (Spatial Information Engineering · 1st-year student in Master's course), Park Dong-Joo (Industry 4.0 Convergence Bionics Engineering · 1st-year student in Master's course), Park So-Young (Biotechnology · 1st-year student in Master's course), Lee Ji-Ye (Aquaculture · 1st-year student in Master's course), and Yim Seon-Mi (Chemical Engineering · 2nd-year student in Master's course) selected for the advanced course, and a total of six including Jo Hyeon-Jin (Biotechnology · 2nd-year student in Master's course) selected for the general course.
Each of them assumes the role of research director for the research team, and consists of graduate students (or undergraduate students) to carry out research tasks until October of this year together with their advisory professors. For research grants, up to 8 million won for advanced courses and 6.6 million won for general courses.
Kim Bo-Ram researches the 'analysis of the inflow characteristics of marine litter using open-source hardware and deep learning'(Advisory prof. Yoon Hong-Joo), and Park Dong-Joo researches the 'development of wound healing materials using gelatin derived from fish processing by-products' (Advisory prof. Jung Won-Kyo), and Park So-Young conducts research on the 'adequacy of host-associated probiotics for weaning pigs to reduce the odor of manure' (Advisory prof. Lee Jong-Min).
Lee Ji-Ye conducts research on the 'molecular properties of proteins bound to toxins in fish' (Advisory prof. Kim Chan-Hee), and Yim Seon-Mi conducts research on the 'development of an electrochemical conversion catalyst for oxalic acid' (Advisory prof. Park YI-Seul), and Jo Hyeon-Jin researches on the 'production of 2,3-butanediol using Spartina species' (Advisory prof. Jeong Gwi-Taek).
Pukyong National University has been selected as a leading university in the southeast region (Busan · Ulsan · Gyeong-Nam) by R-WeSET 2.0 (Project Director, Prof. Sohn Min-Young in Chemical Engineering) achieved such a result this year, while carrying out various projects to expand the competency of local science and engineering women and to promote the advancement of women in science and technology into new technologies. <Pukyong Today>
