Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) has launched and operates the first master's and doctoral programs for faculties from Chinese universities, expanding its global network.

Pukyong National University held welcome sessions for 'global PKNU graduate program for overseas faculties' at Somin Hall on the 2nd floor of the Mirae Building on the morning of April 14 and started operation in earnest.

As China is recently pursuing a policy to expand the number of faculties with doctoral degrees in its higher education institutions, Pukyong National University has recently opened a graduate program for faculties from Chinese universities from this semester to expand its global network.

Pukyong National University has been recruiting and promoting participants since last year, and 30 faculties from Chinese universities, including 15 professors, entered the course. They belong to 23 higher education institutions across China, including Guangdong Ocean University, Hebei Academy of Fine Arts, Henan University of Technology, and Nanyang Technological University. Their age also varies from 24 to 45 years old.

Participants will complete the doctoral program (28 students) and the master's program (2 students) in majors such as educational consulting, industrial design, fashion design, English language and literature, physical education, and computer engineering.

Starting this semester, they will receive a degree after completing all formal courses such as the Korean language training course, corequisite, on-site research, major credits, and graduation thesis.

Pukyong National University plans to expand and operate this course every year by identifying the demand for participation in this course for Chinese universities, while continuing to provide students with dormitory assignments, thesis translation, and assistants who manage international students.

Yoon Il, from the Office of International Affairs in Pukyong National University said, "By preemptively opening and operating customized degree programs for foreign university faculties who are challenging for master's and doctoral degrees, we expect that it will help to expand the recruitment of new students and help build a global network for revitalizing international education and research." <Pukyong Today>
