PKNU, chosen as 'top pick' in nurturing talent for convergence technology commercialization

Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) received the highest evaluation in the second stage evaluation (2021) of the 'experts nurturing project for diffusing convergence technology commercialization' hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology.

The purpose of this project is to nurture industrial experts who will lead the commercialization of convergence technology in the era of the 4th industrial revolution, and to support companies to lead innovative growth and ultimately to commercialize convergence technology.

Pukyong National University was selected for this project to be supported for up to five years in 2020, and after passing the first-stage evaluation, it achieved excellent results in the second-stage evaluation and continues to carry out the project by receiving the increased project cost.

Pukyong National University got good credits by the host organization for the implementation of industry-university projects, the conducting of 'Family Business Day' to solve the problem of technology commercialization of local companies, and the operation of 'iDRAGON', a technology startup and commercialization support platform, providing information on support projects for local small and medium-sized businesses and startups in an integrated way, and for holding a 'customized support project briefing session' for consulting on difficulties, including the situation where the number of new students at the Graduate School of Management of Technology (Dean Lee Woon-Sik) has increased significantly.

According to this result, Pukyong National University provides support for the expansion of the 'iDRAGON' platform and support for technology commercialization of local companies, as well as the '2nd MOT Council' in which 7 technology management graduate schools and 4 general graduate schools across the country participate in this project to actively promote the development of technology management education and the commercialization of convergence technologies in the region.

Lee Woon-Sik, the dean of the Graduate School of Management of Technology said, "We will do our best to strengthen the ecosystem for convergence technology commercialization in the southeast region and nurture innovative talent by expanding cooperation with technology management educational institutions in the southeast region, including Gyeongsang National University and UNIST based on the experience and evaluation of business performance such as operation of degree programs as well as non-degree programs, this year." <Pukyong Today>
