Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) held an 'Invited lecture for graduate students to lead research activities' at Somin Hall on the 2nd floor of the Mirae building for two days on April 27 and 28.
The event, which was held under the theme of 'useful tips for graduate school life and writing thesis' was provided to share the know-how to conduct research activities, to strengthen the leading research capacity for graduate students.
On the afternoon of the 27th, Kwon Chang-Hyeon, the author of 『Things I Wish I'd Known early in graduate school』 (Cloud9), professor Kwon Chang-Hyeon from the University of South Florida, and Uhm Tae-Woong gave a lecture to Pukyong National University graduate and undergraduate students.
On the day, professor Kwon Chang-Hyeon said, "To write a thesis well, you need to be able to answer what you are studying, why you are doing this, and how helpful it is," he added, "Since you don't know anything about it until you write a thesis, it's good to write a thesis before or during research. Especially, we must recognize and acknowledge that research is initially difficult and confusing."
Uhm Tae-Woong said, "While researching robots and artificial intelligence, I suddenly jumped into starting a business, and in the end, I have to be good at what I love, and I found that by doing anything about it, I was able to build up my own skills," he added, "If you go to graduate school, do not expect that you will find the right answer, but I hope that you will make a life where you can solve problems by yourself and earn points by yourself."
A lecture on 'How to write a scientific paper well' by professor Won Byeong-Mook of Sungkyunkwan University and a lecture on 'Writing a Paper in English' by Dr. Park Young-Min of the Busan Education Policy Research Institute were held on the 28th.
Meanwhile, Pukyong National University is conducting various support programs to nurture excellent master's and doctoral researchers through phase 4 of the BK21 program for the graduate school innovation. <Pukyong Today>
