Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo), which has been attracting attention as a cherry blossom viewing spot in Busan, held a cherry blossom festival, ‘Pink campus - the spring spirit with Pukyong National University' on March 29, with the campus in full bloom.

Pukyong National University is famous for the splendid scenery of cherry trees along the roads in the campus that bloom abundantly every year. The ‘pink campus’, a cherry blossom festival that has been held since 2014, is one of the representative festivals in the region, and is getting word of mouth.

This year, Pukyong National University prepared a pink campus under the supervision of the student council (chairman Lee Dong-Gyu, 4th-year student, materials system engineering) and held a festival such as club performances and departmental booth operation.

On this day, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, about 60 departments opened and booths and departments offering various projects of the university also promoted student support programs in separate booths along both sides of Baekyong street, which is 200m long and covers an area of 11,460, and held individual events.

Clubs related to singing and dancing at Pukyong National University provided spectacle by performing on the outdoor stage. In addition, programs including musical performances, street karaoke, and outdoor movie screenings were held for local residents to participate.

Recently, the obligation to wear a mask was lifted, and at Baekyong street, which was used as a road until last year but was created as a pedestrian-only space from this year, Pukyong National University held a festival for the first time this year, and the number of students and local residents visiting the campus increased significantly.

Pukyong National University has 500 cherry trees planted on the Daeyeon campus and 350 cherry trees on the Yongdang campus, and is famous as a ‘university with beautiful cherry blossoms’ and ‘the best place to see cherry blossom in Busan’. <Pukyong Today>
