Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) held the Marine science camp 2023 on July 20 on campus and around Gwangalli beach.

80 students from middle schools in Busan who participated in the program started with the entrance ceremony held at the college of environmental and marine sciences and technology in the morning, and then went on board Nara (1,494t), the most advanced marine exploration vessel, followed by special lectures on marine science and marine leisure sports.

This program is hosted by the Marine exploration education center in the College of environmental and marine sciences and technology at Pukyong National University (dean Han Kyung-Soo), and is held every year to foster future talents who will contribute in this field by providing various experience opportunities in the field of environment and marine to youth in Busan.

Pukyong National University actively invests the university's manpower, facilities, and equipment to support this program. Professors from related departments provided specialized lectures on the marine environment and resources, and the crew of the practice ship Nara guided the inside of the ship and provided safety education. Graduate students provided special lectures on science in the field of environment and marine in a fun way in classrooms and laboratories on campus.

On the second day of the camp, a program to experience marine leisure sports such as yachting and paddleboarding was provided at the Gwangalli beach area near the campus.

As a result of providing programs that make good use of the university's specialized capabilities and educational infrastructure, such as the Marine science camp, which was first launched in 1992, Pukyong National University was certified as an 'outstanding institutions for educational donations' by the Ministry of education and is carrying out educational contribution activities for the local community. <Pukyong Today>
