Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) announced that it would expand the operation of a field education term, an industry-university linked program between universities and companies.

On the afternoon of August 1st, Pukyong National University held a 'communication meeting for trainees who participated in the student field-training term' on the first floor of the Dongwon Jang Bogo hall, and the meeting was held between President Jang Young-Soo and 11 trainees participating in the field-training term program.

A total of 358 students participated in the field-training term program last year, where students practiced in the field to gain practical experience and earn class credit, this year, 243 people have participated so far, and the number of participants is expected to increase by more than 30% compared to last year.

Pukyong National University received practical suggestions for improvements from students who participated in the field-training at the communication meeting on this day and has plans to actively reflect on them to help improve the program so that students can develop field practical capabilities in connection with local industries.

Pukyong National University has begun strengthening the program by expanding the number of companies that participate in the standard field-training term program. The standard field training term is a program operated to protect students’ rights and to strengthen the quality of the student experience by guaranteeing a minimum wage in accordance with the Ministry of Education’s 'University Field-Training Term Program Regulations'.

A total of 310 institutions are participating in this program currently, including institutions such as the Korea Institute of Ocean Science & Technology, the Korea Research Institute of Ships & Ocean Engineering, Kumyang co., ltd., Jungin Hi-tech co., ltd., and the Korea Institute of Materials Science, which are participating in Pukyong National University’s standard field training term program.

On this day, Jo Hyeon-Jin (class of '21, materials science and engineering), a student who recently completed field-training term program at Kumyang, expressed his impressions, saying, "Based on the secondary battery-related theories I learned in my major, I felt like I could be active in the field by directly participating in practical work and processes at companies in this field, gained confidence."

President Jang Young-Soo said, "Pukyong National University will expand the participation of excellent institutions suitable for their major fields to help students strengthen their practical skills and find employment, and actively support the field training term program to be operated better." <Pukyong Today>
