Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) announced that the student team of Bang Min-Seong (4-year student, department of electrical engineering), Jin Chang-Min (1-year student, division of international commerce), Kook Kyeong-Min (1-year student, major of ecological engineering), Do Su-Yeon (1-year student, division of marine production system management), and Lee Jae-Seong (1-year student, major of computer engineering) won the excellence award at the 3rd idea contest using AI for the underprivileged.
In this contest held by the AI convergence education institute under the Korea association of cyber universities, they received an award for their work titled 'navigation walking stick?Songilo' for the visually impaired.
In this contest, which was held under the theme of 'cases and applied technologies of AI use for the underprivileged', their work received excellent reviews for its idea of a navigation system that helps the visually impaired, who are transportation vulnerable, move safely.
They presented an idea for a walking stick that provides real-time guidance with voice recognition and voice guidance functions to help visually impaired people safely reach their destinations.
It was proposed to provide information about obstacles using cameras and various sensors, and to recognize emergency situations by measuring the user's heart rate using a bio sensor.
They submitted a team project they had completed while taking the undergraduate liberal arts course 'presentation and discussion (professor Chae Young-Hee)' last semester to this contest and won an award. <Pukyong Today>
