A PKNU student received the 'best paper award' at the ISRS international academic conference 2024

- Sim Ju-hyeon, majoring in environmental eng., received the 'best paper award'

Sim Ju-Hyeon, a doctoral student majoring in environmental engineering at Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo), won the best student paper award at the ISRS international conference 2024.

Sim Ju-Hyeon recently presented the paper 'innovative fog prediction and monitoring through image driven atmospheric parameters' at this academic conference held in Taichung, Taiwan and received the best paper award.

She received excellent evaluations for explaining how to calculate atmospheric factors from images taken with a general camera and what changes occur when fog occurs in her research.

The significance of the research was acknowledged for its ability to measure visibility distance, obtainable with conventional measurement equipment, and determine fog occurrence solely from regular images.

Professor Noh Young-Min commented, "I believe she has been recognized for her significant achievements due to her continuous applied research utilizing cameras for atmospheric analysis. I expect that through ongoing atmospheric research based on remote sensing technology, she will lead the development of new analytical methods for air quality management."

Supervising professor Noh Young-Min is currently overseeing the National Pukyong National University's specialized graduate program in fine dust management (4th year), and doctoral student Sim Ju-Hyeon, affiliated with the Remote sensing research laboratory (supervised by prof. Noh Young-Min) for atmospheric environment in the environmental engineering department at Pukyong National University, is actively engaged in various research projects related to fine dust monitoring and reduction technologies. <Pukyong Today>
