Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) successfully held the spring festival 'Daedong-je (the grand festival)' for three days from May 7th to 9th.
This year's Daedong-je was held on a larger scale than previous years to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding, and students, international students, alumni, and local residents enjoyed performances, fireworks, and contests.
Hosted by the Pukyong National University student council (representatives Kim Min-Jae) under the theme 'the 100 years achieved together, the next 100 years to build together' various programs such as family games, Pukyong starking, fantastic duo, the campus war, and flea market were conducted.
In addition to the fireworks festival celebrating the 100th anniversary of the university, the invited singer performances included a special visit from alumni singer Heize, who presented a mini-concert lasting over an hour, receiving a tremendous response from the audience.
At the 'family games' corner, alumni from the alumni association and current students enjoyed time together, while a 'flea market' where local residents participated was also held. Students and staff participated in a 'club sports competition', and international students showcased traditional costumes and performances at the 'starking'.
Alongside these, club performances, department-specific cultural street events, and the '100 won coffee' event by the student union were also held. At the main stadium, an amusement park featuring slides, bouncy castles, and playing bounces was set up and operated.
Meanwhile, Pukyong National University supported the festival by enhancing safety measures, including strengthening safety patrols led by a team composed of staff and students called the safety keepers, with significant participation from students, faculty, alumni, and local residents.
Kim Tae-Gyu, the dean of student affairs, said, "Through the festival, not only the members of the university but also the local community celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding together, and we hope that it will be an opportunity for Pukyong National University to further contribute to the development of local culture." <Pukyong Today>
