Pukyong National University, Holds Farewell Ceremony for the 7th President, Dr. Jang Young-soo

Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-soo) held a farewell ceremony for the 7th President, Dr. Jang Young-soo, on October 18 in the afternoon at Pukyong Convention Hall.

The farewell ceremony proceeded with the introduction of his biography and achievements, the handing over of the university key and flags, the presentation of a management white paper and a plaque of appreciation, congratulatory remarks, introduction of major accomplishments, and the farewell address.

President Jang Young-soo, an alumnus of the major of Fisheries Business at Pukyong National University, began his career as a professor in the Department of Marine and Fisheries Business at Pukyong National University in 1995. He served as the Dean of the College of Fisheries Science and the Head of the Office of External Affairs and has worked diligently for the development of the university as the 7th president since October 19, 2020, for a term of four years.

President Jang Young-soo established the College of Information Technology and Convergence and the College of Liberal Arts, reorganized the academic structure centered on advanced disciplines, and significantly expanded multi-major programs and innovative classes, thereby building a student-centered curriculum.

In addition, the university has been selected for the Advanced Industry Specialization University Support Project and has secured government support projects amounting to 200 billion won over the past four years. It has passed the basic university competency diagnosis and the university institutional evaluation certification, achieving excellent ratings in the comprehensive evaluation of the University Innovation Support Project, the performance evaluation of the National University Development Project, and ranking first nationwide in the comprehensive integrity evaluation of national and public universities, thereby receiving recognition for its outstanding achievements from both internal and external sources.

At the Daeyeon Campus, the Core Competency Library and Water Leisure Center have been newly constructed, and Baekgyeong Square has been developed. Meanwhile, Yongdang Campus has been transformed into a Campus Innovation Park, and Gijang Campus has been developed into a Smart Aquaculture Cluster, thus expanding campus infrastructure to enhance the quality of education and research.

President Jang Young-soo stated, “Thanks to the support of many who have cheered for and loved our university, we have been able to stand tall as a comprehensive specialized university that truly represents the region and operates globally. I sincerely thank you all.”
