Pukyong National University, Initiates Full Operation of the Acting President System

-Addressing Major Issues at the University Until the Appointment of the 8th President

Pukyong National University(Acting President Lee Min-hee) announced on October 21 that it will initiate full operation of the Acting President System.

Pukyong National University elected Professor Bae Sang-hoon (Major of Geomatics Engineering) as the first candidate and Professor Wang Je-pil (Department of Metallurgical Engineering) as the second candidate in the election for the 8th president’s nominee held on June 26.

Following the completion of the research achievement verification for presidential candidates, Pukyong National University sent a letter of recommendation for candidates to the Ministry of Education in August and is now awaiting the government’s appointment. The next president will serve a term of four years upon appointment.

Pukyong National University plans to respond without disruption to the promotion of key policy initiatives, such as being a ‘glocal university’ and the ‘Regional Innovation System and Education (RISE)’, through the Acting President System, which is essential for collaboration with the local community.

In particular, following the record-high competition rate in this year’s early admissions, which closed last month, the university plans to meticulously advance preparations for early registration, regular admissions, future admission schedules, and the operation of the newly established Department of Liberal Studies next year.
