Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) alumni are attracting public attention by donating a large amount of development funds to their alma mater members.

Pukyong National University held the 'Haeshin king crab-university development fund delivery ceremony' in the president’s office on the 3rd floor of the administration building on the afternoon of November 13th.

Three people, including representative Lee Jeong-Dong (class of '85, major of marine & fisheries business and economics) of the Haeshin king crab (Jeonpo-dong, Busan) , director Kim Hyeon-Soo (class of '84, department of applied chemistry), and assistant manager Choi Mi-Jeong (class of '96, department of business administration) agreed to donate 100 million won over the next five years, visited their alma-mater and delivered 20 million won to President Jang Young-Soo on this day.

Mr. Lee Jeong-Dong said, "We decided to make a donation with the hope that Pukyong students will steadily gain the knowledge and experience necessary to be active in society at university." Pukyong National University plans to use this fund for university development, including scholarships for students in these departments.

Alumni, including representative Lee, established a king crab food restaurant in Seomyeon (Bujeon-dong), Busan in 2008 and have been running it together for 17 years as a 'local fixture' of Seomyeon.

Mr. Lee said, "There were many difficulties in establishing the business in the early days, but we were able to build a good foundation by receiving a lot of help both materially and spiritually from Pukyong members who had entered the same field," he added, "It would be great if we could be a help to our juniors."

Representative Lee has already donated about 20 million won to his alma mater prior to this donation, including registering Haeshin king crab as a house of support for Pukyong National University and sponsoring it every month since 2015.

He said, "After getting into business, I realize that nothing can prove success with just a moment of effort. I hope that Pukyong students study hard at university with the mindset that if you steadily broaden knowledge and experience, you will have a great outcome." <Pukyong Today>
