"If you have a tired mind, 'connect' at home." The Student Counseling Center of Pukyung National University (Head Cheon Seong-moon) announced on the 24th of March that they will operate a 'untact personal counseling' service to prevent COVID19 infection and keep a social distance. This 'untact personal counseling' is prepared to allow students to conduct psychological counseling through real time chat or video consulting without coming to school, while online classes and restrictions on access to school facilities are in progress. This service is available to enrolled students at Pukyong National University as well as those who are on vacation. This service uses the “Zoom” program that Pukyong National University recently introduced for online classes. Students can consult with a quilified counselor with a license for psychological counseling in real time to discuss their concerns such as employment, career, stress, schoolwork, shcool grades, personality, and personal relationships. This consultation is conducted in the order of reception and regular consultation. Reception counseling is conducted in a chat mode. This is for students who are onerous with video communication mode. When a student applies for counseling through the school portal system, the counselor will contact and proceed to the reception. The counselor understands the student's counseling problems and stress factors, and sets the counseling schedule. The main consultation will be conducted for about an hour in a video chat mode. The recording function is blocked for confidentiality. This consultation can also be conducted by chat. If the student wishes, counseling can be continued on a weekly basis. The Student Counseling Center of Pukyong National University plan to continue offering this service during the online instructional period. Separately, counseling that requires a visit, such as crisis counseling, will be conducted prior to the student's visit with the COVID 19 questionnaire. Lee Ji-won, a counselor at the Student Counseling Center of Pukyong National University, said, "If there are any students who are experiencing psychological difficulties as the situation in COVID 19 becomes longer, please visit the Student Counseling Center as it is open both online and offline." <Pukyong Today> |
