’Let’s settle community problems with youthul ideas’
PKNU · Nam-gu, Busan promotes project ’Youth Social Living Lab’

A project has begun to solve social problems through the ideas of local young people that are intimately related to life of human being but difficult to fix such trash-covered alleys and parking difficulties.

Pukyong National University Linc Plus (LINC+) Business Team (Seo Yong-cheol, leader) announced on the 1st, June that it is planning to push forward the ’Youth Social Living Lab of 2020 Nam-gu Busan’ project together with Nam-gu (Park Jae-beom, head officer) in Busan.

The goal is to empower young people to discover social problems on their own and provide opportunities to solve them, strengthening their capacity for social participation, and cultivating social enterprises and creating jobs.

Through this project, Pukyong National University selects 20 people from six teams of local youth in Busan to support them working on a project to find and solve social problems by coming December.

The business target place is Nam-gu, Busan. The project is targeted for social problems that occur in all areas of life, such as residential areas, apartment complexes, markets, schools, companies, hospitals, and online communities, including garbage problems, parking shortages, school violence, and air pollution.

Pukyong National University provides education and mentoring and supports activity expenses to young people participating in the project in connection with the existing community innovation project of the Regional Cooperation Center of Linc Plus (LINC+) Business Team. The project budget will be paid by the Nam-gu in Busan.

Seo Yong-cheol, the leader of the LINC+ Business Team said, "Through this program, it is hoped that the youth will be provided with opportunities to contribute to the local community and challenge employment and entrepreneurship, which will not only solve social problems for all of us, but also prevent the outflow of talented people and create jobs." <Pukyong Today>
