A university professor who is at her retirement age donated a great amount of 100 million won, asking university to use it for school development, warming our hearts.

Professor Lee Myung-sook (Dept. of Microbiology, Age 65), is the one who recently donated development funds to Pukyong National University.

On the 26th, Professor Lee visited the president's office on the 3rd floor of the administration building at Pukyong National University and delivered 100 million won of development funds to President Jang Young-soo and said, "I wanted to express my gratitude to Pukyong National University, my work and alma mater, so I decided to donate."

This money was raised by deducting a certain amount from her monthly salary over the past 10 years.

Professor Lee said, "I thought for a long time that when the time came to retire, I would pay my gratitude to school and leave, but I was not confident to pay a large amount at once. So I made a separate savings account and collected a fixed amount every month for the past 10 years, and I donated this time before the retirement age."

For Professor Lee, who will be retired in February, Pukyong National University is a 30-year of her career and her alma mater (enrolled in 1974).

She said, "By the time I entered college, my family was in difficult circumstance financially, but fortunately I was able to graduate without difficulty with a scholarship for 4 years. Also, I had the happiness of working at my alma mater, studying academics and teaching students for 30 years by good chance. I think it's time for me to pay it off."

Following her wish, Pukyong National University plans to use this development fund for school development, such as expanding school research equipments and facilities, and supporting students' autonomy-based activities.

Professor Lee smiled benignly and said, "I hope that my donation will be a small help for students to study and study in a better environment, and to have a meaningful campus life through various experiences and activities." <Pukyong Today>
