Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-soo) started the academic schedule in 2021 in earnest, starting with events such as a visit to the Baekyong Tower on the morning of 4th, January.

On this day, as the first official schedule in 2021, President Jang Young-Soo of Pukyong National University and the faculty members visited the Baekyong Tower in honor of the senior spirits who gave their lives for the pioneering of the sea and the development of academics. Other opening ceremony events were not held due to concerns about the spread of Covid-19.

President Jang Young-soo announced the 2021 New Year’s address through online, "In 2021, we will make a new leap forward by implementing 4 innovation tasks such as ▷creative convergence education, ▷strengthening liberty, ▷strengthening research and welfare, and strengthening university finances."

President Jang said in his New Year’s address, "So far, we have been going through new and difficult experiences in the spread of Covid-19," he added, "This age of ever-changing innovation is calling for our universities to transform into a future university that can contribute to the local community and the country," and added, "We must put all our competencies together to respond to new environmental changes and prepare for the future."

He urged and said, "I think that the challenge and courage of professors in new fields are essential for our university to produce innovative research results that lead the era of the high-tech knowledge and information industry and produce excellent talent," he added, "We, Pukyong National University, have a strong DNA of challenge, and have always achieved good results through challenges. With a new determination for the new year, let us join hands together and move forward vigorously toward the unknown world."

Along with this, at the commendation and awards ceremony held that day, the Prime Minister’s citation was awarded to Lee Eun-young  (World Fisheries Graduate School), Jo Wahn-joo (Division of Facility), and the Minister of Education’s citation was awarded to Kim Jeong-hee (the Executive Office of Future-Ready Education), Park Seong-hyeon (Division of Facility), Park Tae-in (Division of Academic Affairs), and Sohn Chang-woo (Human Resources Development Group), Oh Seung-ho (Division of Facility), Yoon Seung-hyeon (Division of General Administration), Wi Eun-jae (Facility Division), Jeong Young-oh (College of Future Convergence), Choi Gwi-ryeon (Division of Finance), Choi Hee-sook (Information & Computer Center), and the Mayor of Busan citation  was awarded to Jeong Young-oh (College of Future Convergence).

Also, five people including Lee Sang-soo (Division of Planning), Kim Byeong-gak (Graduate School), Lee Geunyong (Division of General Administration), Joo Eun-gyeong (Division of Student Service & Welfare), and Kim Seong-geun (Division of Facility) were nominated and received ’2020 Employee of the Year’ awards. <Pukyong Today>
