PKNU's new Marine ROTC program following 157 and Navy ROTC

Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) has been newly founded and operates the Marine Corps ROTC course following the Navy and 157 Army ROTC programs.
Pukyong National University President Jang Young-Soo and Kim Tae-Seong (Lieutenant general), a Commander from the Headquarters Republic of Korea Marine Corps, signed an agreement on Academy-Military on the afternoon of March 23 at the president's office in 3rd floor of the administration building at Pukyong National University.
With this agreement, Pukyong National University and Headquarter of Marine Corps decided to cooperate with each other for the development of military science and training of excellent Marine Corps officers, as well as overall operation following the establishment of the Marine Corps ROTC program this year.
The two organizations have been discussing the installation and operation of the Marine Corps ROTC programs at Pukyong National University since March last year, and with the approval of the Naval Headquarters at the end of last year, they have been recruiting and selecting cadets in Marine Corps ROTC from this year.
Pukyong National University started the first recruitment of applicants for the Marine Corps ROTC from the beginning of this month for first- and second-year students, and in May and June, the first and second selection will be conducted respectively, and 20 students per grade will be selected for a total of 40 students, and the program will start operating in 2023.
Accordingly, these two institutions will develop military science and education system, △ recruit applicants, promote and support selection, △ provide educational support for nurturing excellent officers and manage selected cadets, △ manage changes in academic records, △ recommendation and recruitment of security science professors, and △ management ROTC council and collaborate in the configuration and operation process.
In the meantime, Pukyong National University has been contributing to the defense of the Republic of Korea and national development, starting with the training of navy ROTC in 1959, and producing 3,800 officers since the establishment of the 157 ROTC in 1971. <Pukyong Today>
