PKNU designated as a 'water rescue training institute' by the Korea coast guard
- Fully meets the requirements of facilities inc. pools, gears and instructors
Pukyong National University (president Jang Young-Soo) has been newly designated as a 'water rescue training institute' by the Korea Coast Guard.
Water rescue is a qualification system that grants qualifications to those who have the specialty to rescue distressed swimmer. To become a lifeguard, it is essential to pass the national qualification examination after completing a training course at a designated institute or organization.
Seven institutes and organizations from all parts of the country were newly designated this time, including Pukyong National University designated as an institute in Busan. Currently, fifty institutes and organizations nationwide have been designated and operated as water rescue training institutes.
Pukyong National University has been designated as an institute that can educate coast guard by meeting all the requirements including major facilities such as the water sports safety training center (pool and diving pool), equipment and instructors related to first aid and water rescue.
Pukyong National University is expected to contribute to revitalization of employment and entrepreneurship related to water sports safety by expanding educational opportunities for students as well as creating a safe water activity environment for citizens through the designation of a water rescue training institute and providing curriculum. <Pukyong Today>
