Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) announced that it was selected for two sections in the system semiconductor and resource development hosted by the Ministry of Education's '2022 Ministry collaborative business with supporting university for training HR'.

As a collaborative project between the Ministry of education and the Ministry of trade, industry and energy, Pukyong National University's 'Track for semiconductor major' (responsible prof. Baeg Kang-Jun) in the field of system semiconductors and the 'Specialized university project for smart mining developing raw minerals' (prof. responsible Choi Yo-Soon) in the field of resource development was selected.

Pukyong National University will receive a budget of 900 million won for three years through the project 'Track for semiconductor major' to operate the semiconductor major track under the supervision of the Department of nanotechnology engineering, and it plans to train 40 professional talents in the fields of 'power semiconductor' and 'intelligent semiconductor' every year, a total of 120 people.

Pukyong National University is working with the existing Human resources training research group for smart green fusion & convergence materials (BK21 Team leader, prof. Lee Ji-Youl) to maximize educational outcomes, and to nurture field-tailored semiconductor experts with practical capabilities in cooperation with companies that are expected to move into the power semiconductor cluster being built in Gijang-gun, Busan.

At the same time, Pukyong National University will be supported through the 'Specialized university project group for smart mining developing raw minerals' with a project cost of 600 million won for 2 years and 8 months to establish an intelligent information technology convergence smart mining education system specialized in the field of raw mineral development. It means, Pukyong National University will nurture resource development technical personnel who can flexibly cope with the rapidly changing industry cycle.

Pukyong National University plans to operate smart mining specialized curriculum and non-specialized programs, and establish a system for sharing specialized education.

The ministries collaborative talent nurturing project is a project that selects and supports 143 universities (64, excluding redundant universities) across the country to nurture talents in new industries and high-tech industries that will lead the national innovative growth such as semiconductors and energy in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and 7 governments departments.

Pukyong National University's goal is to support a total of 42 billion won this year alone for this project, and to nurture 4,300 people a year and 13,000 innovative talents over three years. <Pukyong Today>
