PKNU invests 200 billion won to build a high-tech convergence glocal campus

Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) announced on October 30 that the university invest 200 billion won over five years to build a high-tech convergence glocal campus.

The university invests 33.2 billion won to create a lecture and experiment environment that leads research and development in high-tech fields, decided to build a new 'high-tech laboratory lecture building' on the site next to the main gate of Daeyeon campus, and began design services this month.

This building, which will be completed in 2026 with a total floor area of 10,600㎡ with one story below and eight above the ground, will contain a laboratory, clean rooms, professors' offices, state-of-the-art research laboratories, and marine and fisheries bio fish farm.

The 'Glocal convergence center' linked to this building will also begin design next year with the goal of completion in 2028. To expand educational and research facilities, including the establishment of new departments, 27 billion won will be invested to build a building with two stories below and 8 above the ground with a total floor area of 8,250㎡.

As Pukyong National University has established a convergence academic education and research system centered on high-tech industries following a major reorganization of the academic organization in recent years, the university has begun in earnest to create a high-tech convergence glocal specialized campus environment that can support it.

Pukyong National University is also investing 39.9 billion won to build the 'fisheries science building 2' to maximize its capabilities in specializing in the fisheries field, which is its strength. When construction begins on the 31st with a business implementation agreement and is completed in 2026, Pukyong National University is expecting to create a synergy effect by integrating the scattered lectures, research, and laboratory rooms of the fisheries department into a building with one story below and fourteen above the ground with a total floor area of 17,000㎡.

In addition, in order to separately place future industry majors and expand the educational and research facilities in the college of information technology and convergence, which was launched last year, Pukyong National University will spend 10 billion won to build a building with one story below and six above the ground with a total floor area of 4,684㎡ by 2025, and to improve student welfare facilities, and will invest another 34.5 billion won to build a student center with one story below and ten above the ground with a total floor area of 14,00㎡, which is scheduled to open in 2026.

Above this, Pukyong National University plans to spend 5.5 billion won to expand the Humanities and social sciences building and business administration building by next year, expand the recently completed central library, and build a new water leisure center to accelerate the advancement and convergence of the education and research environment.

Pukyong National University expects that once the Campus innovation park project, which will create an urban high-tech industrial complex by investing 53 billion won in the Yongdang campus along with the construction of a specialized campus at the Daeyeon Campus, is completed, the university will be reborn as a truly specialized base for local education, research, and local-industry-academy. <Pukyong Today>
