-With the ‘Specialized Graduate School for Fine Dust Management’ … Awarded in the Human Resource Development Category

Pukyong National University won the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Education Award (Encouragement Prize) in the Human Resource Development category at the ‘2024 Industry-Academic Cooperation Best Practice Contest.’

Pukyong National University was recognized for the excellence of the ‘Specialized Graduate School for Fine Dust Management’ project (led by Professor Noh Young-min) at the competition hosted by the Ministry of Education and organized by the Korea Research Foundation.

The award ceremony for this competition was held on November 6th at the 2024 Industry-Academic Cooperation Expo at BEXCO in Busan.

Pukyong National University received high praise for its achievements in the Specialized Graduate School for Fine Dust Management project, including the establishment of Korea’s first cutting-edge remote sensing equipment VR (Virtual Reality) and AR (Augmented Reality) training programs through a virtuous cycle of industry-academia cooperation, as well as the operation of industry-oriented master’s and doctoral tracks in fine dust management.

Pukyong National University’s Specialized Graduate School for Fine Dust Management project is a professional workforce development program run by the Ministry of Environment and the Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute since 2020 to train master’s and doctoral-level professionals for fine dust reduction.

In particular, this project has established a high level of expertise, technical capability, and educational and research competence in the field of advanced remote sensing. It is the first graduate school in the country to set up a real-time high-resolution fine dust monitoring scanning LIDAR observation system and a VR and AR training system for remote sensing equipment, operating specialized track courses.

In addition, through industry-academia cooperation and network formation with related companies, the project strengthens internships and field training for graduate students, fostering fine dust professionals with practical field expertise. <Pukyong Today>
