Pukyong National University’s Sports Promotion Institute Receives a Letter of Appreciation from the President of the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation

-The only one among national sports instructor training institutions … 1,000 level 2 sports instructors trained this year

Pukyong National University Sports Promotion Institute (Director Shin Jong-dae) received a Letter of Appreciation from the President of the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation on December 31, 2024.

The Sports Promotion Institute has been recognized as an excellent training institution for its outstanding expertise in running training programs for national certifications such as Level 2 Sports Instructor (65 sports categories) and Health Exercise Manager, contributing to the development of sports instructors and the advancement of community sports.

This year, the Sports Promotion Institute stood out among 61 national sports instructor training institutions by graduating the highest number of 1,000 trainees, and was the only institution to receive the 2024 Letter of Appreciation from the President of the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation.

The Sports Promotion Institute received approval as a Level 3 Community Sports Instructor training institution in 1998 and was re-approved as a Level 2 Community Sports Instructor training institution in 2014. Since then, it has trained over 800 outstanding sports instructors annually, totaling 21,600 trainees over 27 years.

As the number of trainees has steadily increased, the Sports Promotion Institute expanded the capacity of its Level 2 Sports Instructor training program from 900 trainees in 2023 to 1,500 in 2024.

In addition, in 2021, the institute was designated as the first Health Exercise Manager training institution in the Busan and Gyeongnam region, and this year, it expanded its designated practical training institutions from 12 to 24. These efforts have been recognized for providing high-quality training programs.

The Sports Promotion Institute plans to continue its efforts to enhance sports culture in the local community, focusing on expanding the qualification programs for sports instructor training under the leadership of the Sports Instructor Training Department (headed by Professor Choi Ho-kyung).

Kwak Geum-ha, the official in charge of the Sports Instructor Training Program, stated, “Following the receipt of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism’s citation in 2022, we are honored to receive this recognition again with the award.
