부경대학교 서머스쿨, 국내외 학생 대거 신청
- 5개국 대학생 115명 참가 … 6월 28일부터 5주간 부경대서 공부

부경대학교(총장 박맹언)가 개설한 서머스쿨(국제여름학교)에 국내외 대학생들이 대거 신청했다. 
6월 28일부터 5주 동안의 일정으로 개설된 부경대학교 서머스쿨에 태국 학생 18명을 비롯 중국 11명, 미국 5명, 영국 1명 등 외국인 학생 35명과 부경대 학생 80명 등 모두 115명이 참가했다.
이 서머스쿨은 미국 콜럼버스주립대학과 노던주립대학, 노스캐롤라이나주립대학, 부경대 교수들이 강의하는 학부과정의 영어전용 수업이다.
외국 학생들에게는 학점 취득과 한국 문화 체험기회를, 국내 학생들에게는 해외 유학보다 저렴한 비용으로 글로벌한 교육환경에서 공부하는 기회를 제공한다는 점에서 관심을 모으고 있다.
개설과목은 콜럼버스주립대학 John Finley 교수가 강의하는 ‘Modern Management Techniques’와 ‘International Business’, 노던주립대학 이근호 교수의 ‘International Economics’, 노스캐롤라이나주립대학 Derek Aday 교수의 ‘Introduction to Fisheries Science’, 부경대 신명호 교수의 ‘Introduction to Korean History’ 등 5개 과목으로 최대 15학점까지 이수할 수 있다.
부경대 국제교류원 정연호 원장은 “이 서머스쿨은 해외유학이 부담스러운 학생들에게 해외 저명 교수의 우수 강의를 저렴한 비용으로 제공한다는 점이 가장 큰 장점.”이라면서, “외국 학생들도 국제휴양도시인 부산에서 여름방학을 즐기면서 한국 문화를 체험할 수 있다는 점에서 큰 관심을 보이고 있다.”고 밝혔다.<부경투데이>


PKNU Summer School
“Both Korean and international university students have applied for PKNU Summer Camp.”

This summer’s five week camp started on the 28th of June. 115 students from both Korea and abroad are attending the summer school.
 
The Summer Camp is an English Immersion Program for undergraduate students, and the lectures will be given by professors from Columbus State University, Northern State University, North Carolina State University and Pukyong National University.

It attracts applicants by providing opportunities to study in a globalized educational environment, costing less than studying abroad for the Korean students, and offering chances to experience Korean culture and obtain academic credits for the international students. 

During the program, five courses will be offered. They are ’Modern Management Techniques’ and ‘International Business’ by Dr. John Finley of Columbus State University, ‘International Economics’ by Dr. Lee GunHo of Northern State University, ‘Introduction to Fisheries Science’ by Dr. Derek Aday of North Carolina State University, and ‘Introduction to Fisheries Science by Shin MyungHo of PKNU. Students can take up to 15 credits.

Jung YeonHo, the director of the Office of International Relations, claims that “this program will benefit the local students by providing highly qualified lectures from distinguished professors abroad with students who are reluctant to study abroad because of the burden of the expenses." He also added, "For the international students, the program is attractive in that they could spend their summer vacation in Busan which is widely known as an international resort city, and they could experience Korean culture at the same time."
