부경대학교(총장 박맹언)가 5일 한국공학교육인증원(ABEEK)으로부터 공학교육인증을 받았다. 공학교육인증은 공학분야 졸업생이 공학 실무에 성공적으로 종사할 수 있도록 우수한 교육과정을 제공하는 공학교육프로그램을 평가해 인증하는 제도다.
이 학부(과)를 졸업한 학생들은 삼성전자, KT, SK텔레콤 등 국내 기업에 입사 할 때 서류전형 우대 및 가산점의 혜택을 받는다. 부경대는 이번 공학교육인증 심사에서 교육목표를 비롯, 학습성과 및 평가, 교과영역, 학생, 교수진, 교육환경, 교육개선, 전공분야별 인증기준 등 8개 기준에서 우수한 평가를 받았다. 한편 부경대는 지난 2002년 국립대 최초로 공학교육인증을 획득하고 21세기 지식기반사회가 요구하는 공학인의 요건과 ABEEK에서 요구하는 능력을 모두 만족시키는 교육 및 연구여건을 제공하고 있다. 부경대학교의 인증 획득 성과 PKNU which president is Park Maeng Eon get an Accreditation of Engineering Education by Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea (ABEEK). It is a system that evaluates engineering education program which gives the graduates the excellent course of study to help them to work in the field of engineering successfully. The following departments or divisions which are included in the college of engineering is certified; Division of Civil Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, Department of Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineering, Department of Mechanical System Engineering, Department of Electrical Engineering, Department of Control and Instrumentation Engineering, Department of Polymer Engineering, Department of Industrial Chemistry, Department of Chemical Engineering, Division of Electronics –Major of Computer and Telecommunication Engineering, Major of Computer and Multimedia Engineering. The students majoring in these departments or divisions in PKNU have a few benefits. For example, they can be given special treatment in the application phase of hiring process, and the points can be added when they enter the domestic corporations such as, Samsung Electronics, KT, and SK Telecom. In this screening process of Accreditation Engineering Education, PKNU is praised for its educational objectives including the results of the studies, all academic subjects, the high quality of students and faculty, educational environment, the reform of the education, certification criteria for a major field of studies and so on. Meanwhile, PKNU has been the first national university obtaining accreditation of engineering education since 2002. Also, PKNU provides the environment of education and research which satisfies engineers’ requisites required in the 21st century knowledge based society and ABEEK for students. - PKNU’s outcome by gaining certification In the case of PKNU, the field of engineering, construction industry, trading business and business administration that are certified by ABEEK receive a lot of attention. In other words, it means that these departments or divisions run strict education programs meeting standards required by ABEEK. Therefore, the graduates majoring in these departments or divisions have a few advantages in entering the domestic corporations which want to recruit splendid human materials certified. * The first national university gaining accreditation of engineering education As mentioned earlier, PKNU is the first national university obtaining education accreditation by ABEEK in the following departments or divisions; Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, Department of Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineering, Department of Mechanical System Engineering, Department of Electrical Engineering, Department of Information and Communications Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Polymer Engineering, Department of Industrial Chemistry, Division of Advanced Materials Science and Engineering, Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Department of Systems Management and Engineering. Because ABEEK is admitted into ‘Washington Accord’, the graduates majoring in these departments or divisions can be accepted into foreign countries. * The first university gaining accreditation of construction engineering within Pusan and Gyeongsangnam-do In Pusan and Gyeongsangnam-do, division of architecture in PKNU obtains certification for the first time from Korea Architectural Accrediting Board (KAAB). Under the new system of the architecture certification test, the students who complete a course in architecture certification programs are given a qualification to take this test and benefits to get the recognition between nations. * The first university receiving accreditation of trading business education Division of International Commerce in PKNU holds certification for the first time by Korea Trade Accrediting Board. Therefore, PKNU establishes the foundation to cultivate students’ potential abilities by strengthening the school work and education that help students to build an upright character. * The first university acquiring accreditation of business administration Division of Business Administration and Department of Marine Business and Economics acquire certification by Korea Administration Accrediting Board for the first time in Pusan.
