            부경대학교 박맹언 총장(59세)이 총장 임기를 마치고 8월 3일 이임했다.
박 총장의 이임식은 8월 3일 오전 11시 부경대 대학본부 2층 대회의실에서 대학 구성원과 내빈들이 참석한 가운데 △주요 추진업무 소개 △대학 열쇠와 교기 인계 △공로패 전달 △이임사 등의 순으로 열렸다.
박 총장은 임기 4년 동안 특성화, 실용화, 국제화 등 3대 비전을 내걸고 대학 경쟁력 강화에 나서 부경대를 취업률 전국 대학 톱 10에 들 정도로 취업이 잘되는 대학, 외국인 유학생이 1,000여명으로 부산에서 가장 많고, 유학생 국적도 50여 개국으로 가장 다양한 글로벌 대학으로 성장 발전시켰다.

            부경대는 올해 5년 연속으로 대학교육역량강화사업에 선정된 것은 물론 정부 지원금 전국 최대 수혜대학이라는 영예도 안았다.

            특히 박 총장은 해양수산과 환경, 공학 등 부경대만의 장점과 부산의 산업특성에 초점을 맞춘 특성화 전략을 추진하여 4년 동안 모두 1,900억 원 상당의 국책 연구개발(R&D)사업을 유치해 신산업시대를 여는 기반을 구축했다는 평가를 받고 있다. LED 해양융합기술연구개발사업, 해양로봇거점연구센터, 원자력부품소재산업 등 신성장동력산업이 그것이다.
이와 함께 박 총장은 강의실 첨단화사업, 세종관 등 학생생활관 신축, 게스트하우스, 가온관과 한미르관, 동원장보고관 등을 건설해 교육환경을 진일보시켰다. 앞으로 해양생명산업의 메카가 될 부산 기장군 동백리 수산해양과학연구단지도 박 총장이 의욕적으로 추진한 사업이다.
박 총장은 캠퍼스 담장 허물기 사업을 필두로 ‘에코버시티(eco’versity)사업’을 펼쳐 부경대의 차별화된 학문분야를 통해 지구환경을 지키고 생명 가치를 높이며 평화와 공존의 삶을 실천하는 에코 크리에이터로서 부경대의 위상을 높였다.<부경투데이>

The President of PKNU, Park Maeng Eon (59 years old) has resigned from his post on the 3rd August as he finished his term.
The farewell banquet for him was held at 11am on the 3rd August, in the Main conference hall on the 2nd floor of Pukyong Main Building. The banquet progressed in the following order - introducing main businesses, handing over the key of the university and the school flag, presenting the appreciation plaque, and the farewell speech with members of the university and guests.
Park Maeng Eon had developed PKNU by increasing PKNU’s competitiveness through 3 visions: specialization, utilization, and internationalization. Furthermore, he made PKNU into the most global university in Busan by having around 1000 students from abroad, which is the biggest number of foreign students among universities in Busan. He also enabled PKNU to become one of the Top 10 universities in Korea, based on the employment rate ranking.
PKNU has been selected as the beneficiary of business for improving university capability for 5 years in a row, and has also received the accolade for.
In addition, President Park has a good reputation due to the fact that he established the foundation for opening the age of new industry by carrying forward a specialized strategy focusing on PKNU’s own strength and Busan’s industry characteristics such as Maritime and fisheries, Marine biology, and engineering. He also attracted national-politic R&D business for four years worth 190 billion won. The national-policy R&D business includes the industries of new-improvement power such as the business of researching and developing LED ocean-fusing technology, the research center of marine robot base, and the industry of components of nuclear energy.
Furthermore, he improved the environment of education, for example, the plan of high-tech class rooms, building new dormitories such as Sejong building, Ga-on building, Han-mir building, and Dongwon Jangbogo building. He also very enthusiastically carried forward the business of the science town for Marine and fisheries science in Dong-baek li, Gi-jang gun, Busan, which could be a mecca of the industry of marine biology.
President Park conducted the project of "Eco’versity", so he enhanced PKNU’s position as an Eco-creator which saves the global environment, increases the value of life, and practices peace and coexistence through differentiated disciplines of PKNU.<Pukyong Today>
