올해 원양어업 개척 60주년을 맞은 가운데 부경대학교 원양승선실습이 61회째 출항의 뱃고동을 울려 눈길을 끈다. 60년 전인 1957년 6월 29일 부산항을 출항해 최초로 원양어업을 개척한 지남호(250톤급) 초대선장은 부경대 전신 부산수산대 졸업생 윤정구 선장(어로과 45학번)이었다. 윤 선장이 원양어업이라는 이전에 없던 길을 열었듯, 그의 ‘60년 후배’들도 새로운 길을 내러 27일 오후 3시 부산 용호동 매립부두에서 제61회 원양승선실습 출항식을 갖고 바다 개척의 대장정에 나섰다. 이날 부경대 해양생산시스템관리학부와 기계시스템공학과 3학년 학생 87명을 비롯 지도교수와 승무원 등 121명은 실습선 가야호(1,737톤·선장 이종근 교수)를 타고 부산을 출항해 대만 기륭항, 일본 가고시마, 러시아 블라디보스토크를 경유해 30일 후인 내달 26일 부산항에 귀항하기까지 총 2,660마일(4,926㎞)을 항해한다.
우리나라 첫 원양승선 실습이 이루어진 해는 1957년. 김재철 동원그룹 회장을 비롯한 당시 부산수산대 54학번 학생 48명이 103톤짜리 소형 목선 홍양호를 타고 높은 파도를 넘어 대만 기륭항까지 715마일(1,324㎞)을 항해했던 것이다. 그 후 지난 61년 동안 원양승선실습과 해양탐사에 활용된 선박만 무려 13척에 이를 정도로 부경대의 원양승선실습은 바다 개척의 산실역할을 해왔다. 학생들은 일본, 러시아, 중국, 대만, 필리핀, 괌, 인도네시아, 싱가포르, 호주, 사모아, 하와이, 알래스카 등 세계를 누비는 원양승선실습을 통해 해양자원개발과 국제적 협력을 위한 네트워크 구축에 앞장서 왔다. 김영섭 총장은 격려사를 통해 “오늘날 해양수산 강국의 길을 열어온 선배들의 열정과 도전정신을 이어받아 자부심과 긍지를 가지고 우리도 바다에서 새로운 길을 열자.”고 학생들에게 당부했다. <부경투데이> In the 60th anniversary of the pioneering of deep-sea fisheries this year, PKNU voyage aboard training is crowded and attracted people with the sound of boat horn of the 61st departure. 60 years ago, On June 29, 1957, the first captain of MV Ji-nam (250-ton class), which pioneered deep-sea fishing departed Busan Port, was captain Yoon Jeong-gu the graduate of PKNU (Department of Fishing technology, class of 45'). In 1957, the first Korean embarkation training was carried out. 48 class of 54 students, including Dong-Won Kim, Chairman of the Dongwon Group, at Busan National Fisheries University, sailed through a 103-ton small-sized vessel named 'Hong-yang', and sailed 715 miles (1,324 km) to the Ji-long port. In the past 61 years, the number of vessels used for embarkation training and ocean exploration has increased to 13, so PKNU has been a pioneer of marine exploration. Students have taken the lead in establishing a network for marine resource development and international cooperation through drillings on the ocean through embarkation training including Japan, Russia, China, Taiwan, the Philippines, Guam, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia, Samoa, Hawaii and Alaska. Wang Yao (24), a third-year Chinese student in the Marine Production System Administration, said, "I am excited to participate in the training on board the ship," and said, "I will study hard to make this voyage a wonderful experience in my life."
