부경대학교(총장 장영수)가 국내 방사선의료의 핵심거점인 동남권원자력의학원(원장 박상일)과 상호협력을 체결하고 방사선 의과학 분야의 연구와 전문인력 양성 사업을 본격적으로 추진한다.

부경대와 동남권원자력의학원은 2월 10일 오전 부경대 대학본부 3층 총장실에서 방사선 의료 및 의과학 분야의 공동 연구개발과 인력양성 등을 위한 상호협약을 체결했다. 이날 협약식에는 더불어민주당 박재호 의원과 국민의힘 정동만 의원, 부산시 신성장산업국 남정은 과장 등이 참석했다.

부경대는 동남권원자력의학원이 위치한 부산 기장군 장안읍 ‘동남권 방사선 의·과학단지’에 방사선의료에 특화된 의과대학 설립을 추진하고 있으며, 동남권원자력의학원을 부속병원으로 할 경우 시너지 효과가 클 것으로 기대하고 있다. 부경대는 방사선 의·과학대학 설립을 위해 지난해 6월 부산시, 기장군과 공동으로 MOU를 체결한 데 이어 부속병원으로 공동 발전할 수 있는 동남권원자력의학원과의 상호협력을 체결함에 따라 방사선 의·과학대학 설립을 위한 지역 내 추진체계를 확립하게 됐다.

이날 협약에서 양 기관은 미래 정밀의료 및 융복합 첨단산업인 방사선 의과학 분야를 부산이 주도하기 위해 연구개발 협력은 물론 방사선 의과학 및 의료 분야의 인력양성도 함께 추진한다고 밝혔다. 이를 위해 앞으로 연구 및 강사인력 교류와 지역거점형 혁신 의과학자 양성, 전문인력 양성과정의 기획 및 관련 인력의 인턴십, 멘토링, 현장실습 등을 추진할 계획이다. 또 개방형 연구실 운영을 비롯한 시설 및 장비의 공동사용과 함께 학생 및 교직원들에 대한 진료와 건강검진 편의제공 등을 통해 상호협력 관계를 강화한다.

부경대와 동남권원자력의학원의 공동협약으로 현재 막바지 공사가 진행 중인 동남권 방사선의·과학단지의 연구개발과 인적교류도 활발하게 될 것으로 기대된다. 단지에는 최첨단 암치료장비인 중입자가속기(2,606억 원)와 방사선의과학 핵심시설인 신형연구로(4,389억 원), 그리고 방사선기술을 활용하는 파워반도체 상용화센터(1,940억 원), 동위원소융합연구기반시설(331억 원)이 건립되고 관련 기업들이 입주하게 된다. 여기에 국립종합대학교인 부경대와 300개 병상 및 전문의료진을 보유한 동남권원자력의학원을 주축으로 하는 산학연 혁신네트워크가 구축되면 세계적인 방사선 의과학클러스터로 성장하는 기반이 구축될 것으로 기대되고 있다.

장영수 총장은 “방사선 의과학 분야 공동 연구와 전문 인력 양성을 위해서는 양 기관의 교류 협력이 필수적이라는 데 공감하고 협약을 맺게 됐다.”라면서, “이번 협약이 부산을 방사선 의료와 융복합산업인 의과학 분야의 세계적인 중심지로 만들기 위한 중요한 발걸음이 될 것으로 기대한다. 부경대의 방사선 의‧과학대학 설립에 여러분의 적극적인 지원을 부탁드린다.”라고 말했다.

박상일 원장은 “동남권 방사선 의‧과학단지는 동남권원자력의학원에 이어 신형연구로 등이 들어서는 등 관심을 쏟고 있는 곳이다. 이곳에 부경대 방사선 의‧과학대학이 들어서면 연구와 진료에 이어 마지막 단계로 교육 체계까지 갖추며 방사선 의과학 분야 발전이라는 큰 결실을 이룰 것으로 기대한다.”라고 말했다.

행사에 참석한 박재호 의원은 “부산의 미래를 위해서는 청년 일자리를 확보하고 4차 산업을 이끌어가는 것이 중요하다. 앞으로도 방사선 의과학 분야 발전을 위해 더 연구하고 관심을 갖고 부산이 발전하는 데 도움이 될 수 있도록 부경대의 방사선 의‧과학대학 설립을 적극 챙기겠다.”라고 밝혔다.

이어 정동만 의원은 “기장의 동남권 방사선 의‧과학단지는 동남권원자력의학원과 중입자가속기, 파워반도체 상용화센터 등 방사선 의과학 분야 산업이 집적된 세계적 단지다. 이곳이 방사선 의과학 분야 일자리 창출은 물론 인재양성의 중심이 될 수 있도록 부경대의 방사선 의‧과학단지 설립을 힘껏 돕겠다.”라고 말했다.

한편 부경대는 동남권 방사선의·과학단지의 첨단시설과 연계한 연구개발 및 인력육성을 위해 지난해 8월 한국원자력연구원 및 서울대 융합과학기술대학원과 공동으로 상호협력 협약을 체결했다. <부경투데이>

Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-soo) signed cooperation agreement with Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences (Abbr. DIRAMS, President Park Sang-il), which is the core base of domestic medical radiology and is promoting research in the field of radiological & medical sciences and training of professionals in earnest.

On the morning of 10th, February, Pukyong National University and Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences signed agreement on Co-ordination for joint research and development and training of professionals in the field of medical radiology and medical sciences at the university president's office on the 3rd floor of the Administration building of Pukyong National University. At the ceremony, Park Jae-ho from the Democratic Party of Korea, Jeong Dong-mahn from the People Power Party, and Busan New Growth Industry Bureau, Nam Jeong-eun, section chief of the New Growth Engine Industry Bureau of Busan Metropolitan City, attended the agreement ceremony.

Pukyong National University is promoting the establishment of a College of Medical Radiology specializing in radiological medical care in the 'Southern East Area Radiology Medical & Science Industrial Complex' in Jangan-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan, where the Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences is located, and if the Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences is designated as an affiliated hospital, the synergy between these two is expected to be great. Pukyong National University signed an MOU with Busan Metropolitan City and Gijang-gun in June of last year to establish the College of Medical Radiology. Subsequently, by signing agreement on Co-ordination with the Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences, which can develop jointly as an affiliated hospital, Pukyong National University has set up a regional promotion system for the establishment of the College of Medical Radiology.

At the agreement ceremony on the day, both organizations announced that Busan will promote research and development cooperation as well as nurturing human resources in the radiological science and medical fields to lead the future precision medicine and high-tech industry, radiology science. For this plan, in the future, both organizations plan to promote research and exchange instructor, train regional-based innovative medical scientists, operate professional manpower training courses, internships, mentoring, and field training for related manpower. In addition, agreement on Co-ordination will be strengthened through joint use of facilities and equipment, including the operation of an open laboratory, as well as medical treatment and medical examination convenience for students and faculty members.

With the joint agreement between Pukyong National University and the Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences, R&D and exchange of human resources in the Southern east Area Radiology Medical & Science Industrial Complex which are currently under construction, are expected to be active. The complex includes Medical Heavy lon Accelerator (260.6 billion won), which is a state-of-the-art cancer treatment equipment, a new research furnace (438.9 billion won), a core facility in radiology science, and a power semiconductor commercialization center using radiation technology (194 billion won), and fusion R&D infrastructure facilities for isotope (31.3 billion won) will be built, and related companies will move in. In addition, it is expected that the foundation to grow into a world-class radiology medical science cluster will be established if the innovative network of industry-academia-research centered on the Pukyong National University and the Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences with 300 beds with medical professionals.

President Jang Young-soo said, "We agreed that exchange and cooperation between the two organizations is essential for joint research and training of specialists in the field of medical radiology, so we decided to make the agreement," he added, "This agreement is expected to be an important step toward making Busan City as a global center for medical science, which is a convergence industry and the medical radiology. We look forward to your active support in establishing the College of Medical Radiology of Pukyong National University."

President Park Sang-il said, "The Southern east Area Radiology Medical & Science Industrial Complex is a place that we are paying attention to in many ways, including a new research furnace followed by the Southeast Atomic Energy Academy."

Park Jae-ho from the Democratic Party of Korea, said, "I think it is important to secure jobs for young people and lead the 4th industry for the future of Busan. In the future, we will actively take care of the establishment of the College of Medical Radiology at Pukyong National University so that we can continue to research and be interested in the development of the radiological science field and help Busan to develop."

Followed by Jeong Dong-mahn from the People Power Party, said, "The Southern east Area Radiology Medical & Science Industrial Complex in Gijang is a world-class complex of radiological medical science industries such as Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences, Medical Heavy lon Accelerator, and power semiconductor commercialization center. We will do our best to support establish a Radiology Medical & Science Complex of Pukyong National University so that this place can be the center of talent training as well as creating jobs in the field of radiology."
