국립부경대, 부산 해양·수산·과학 새싹 키운다
- 방학 맞아 중학생 대상 첨단 탐사선 견학·과학실험·체험 등 운영

국립부경대학교(총장 배상훈)가 여름방학을 맞아 부산 지역 중학생을 대상으로 ‘해양과학캠프’와 ‘여름수산학교’, ‘자연과학 탐구교실’ 프로그램을 잇달아 개최했다.
국립부경대 환경·해양대학은 7월 24, 25일 양일간 부산 지역 중학생 80여 명이 참가한 가운데 2025년 해양과학캠프를 개최했다.
부산 청소년들에게 대학 캠퍼스에서 해양환경 분야 교육과 체험 기회를 제공하기 위한 이 행사는 24일 환경해양관 대회의실에서 열린 발대식을 시작으로, ‘해양환경과 자원 전문강좌’ 교수 특강, 첨단 탐사선 ‘나라호’ 견학, 대학원생과 함께하는 ‘과학놀이’ 등으로 진행됐다.
해양과학캠프에 참가한 중학생들은 캠퍼스 체험에 이어 국립부경대 인근 광안리에서 요트, 패들보드, 바나나보트, 제트보트 등 해양 레포츠도 체험했다.
이와 함께 수산과학대학은 23일 2025년 여름수산학교를 개최했다. 이 프로그램에는 부산 지역 중학생 50여 명이 참가한 가운데 대학(원)생들과 함께 DNA 만들기, 대체해조육 음식 조리 실습, 바다 탐구, 물속 생태계 체험 등 과정에 참여했다.
자연과학대학이 주관한 2025년 자연과학 탐구교실은 22일부터 24일까지 부산 중학생 130여 명이 참가해 수학·물리·화학·생물·과학컴퓨팅 탐구교실 강좌와 공동실험실습관 견학 등으로 진행됐다.
한편, 국립부경대는 매년 여름방학마다 지역 중학생을 캠퍼스에 초청해 과학캠프를 운영하는 등 특성화 역량과 교육 인프라를 활용한 지역사회 교육에 기여하고 있다. <부경투데이>

Pukyong National University (President Bae Sang-hoon) hosted a series of educational programs for middle school students in Busan during the summer vacation, including the Ocean Science Camp, Summer Fisheries School, and Natural Science Exploration Program.
The University’s College of Environmental and Marine Sciences held the 2025 Ocean Science Camp on July 24？25 with around 80 middle school students from the Busan area.
The camp was designed to provide youth with educational and hands-on experiences in marine and environmental science on a university campus. It began with a kickoff ceremony held at the College’s main conference room, followed by expert lectures by professors under the theme “Marine Environment and Resources,” a tour of the university’s cutting-edge research vessel Nara-ho, and fun science activities led by graduate students.
Following their on-campus activities, participants of the Ocean Science Camp also enjoyed hands-on marine sports experiences at Gwangalli Beach near PKNU, including yachting, paddleboarding, banana boating, and jet boating.
In addition, the College of Fisheries Science held the 2025 Summer Fisheries School on July 23, where around 50 middle school students from the Busan area took part. Together with university students and graduate mentors, participants engaged in various educational activities such as DNA extraction, cooking with alternative seaweed-based foods, marine exploration, and underwater ecosystem experiences.
The 2025 Natural Sciences Exploration Program, hosted by the College of Natural Sciences at PKNU, took place from July 22 to 24, with over 130 middle school students from Busan participating. The program featured subject-specific sessions in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and scientific computing, as well as tours of the university’s Joint Experimental Lab facilities.
Meanwhile, PKNU continues to contribute to local education by leveraging its specialized academic resources and infrastructure, inviting local middle school students to campus every summer for science-themed programs. <Pukyong Today>
