국립부경대, ‘Dragon Open UIC’로 부산형 라이즈 선도한다
- 29일 UIC 발대식 … 용당캠퍼스를 지산학 협력 메카로

국립부경대학교(총장 배상훈)가 수산해양 분야와 에너지 분야를 중심으로 부산시 라이즈 사업의 핵심 모델인 Open UIC(University-Industry Collaboration) 선도에 나섰다.
국립부경대 라이즈 사업단은 9월 29일 오후 부경컨벤션홀에서 ‘Dragon Open UIC’ 발대식을 열고, ‘블루(Blue) UIC’와 ‘그린(Green) UIC’ 두 가지 UIC 전략을 선포했다.
부산시의 ‘Open UIC’는 개방적 협력을 통해 대학이 지역 산업체 중심 수요를 기반으로, 혁신 체계를 갖춘 지역 산업클러스터 생태계를 조성하기 위한 동반성장 체계다.
국립부경대의 ‘Dragon Open UIC’는 이 같은 부산시의 핵심 사업을 선도하기 위한 초광역 협력 전략 모델이다. 블루 UIC는 전통적인 강점인 수산해양에 특성화를, 그린 UIC는 첨단공학 분야인 에너지테크에 특성화한 전략이다.
블루 UIC 전략은 전통 수산업을 넘어 블루푸드, 아쿠아팜과 같은 스마트 기술 개발로 수산해양 유니콘기업을 육성하는 등 글로벌 수산해양 혁신 허브로 도약한다는 비전이다.
그린 UIC 전략은 이차전지, 전력반도체, 모빌리티와 같은 분야의 융복합 연구와 지역 간 연계를 통해 글로벌 에너지테크 밸류체인 혁신 허브를 구축한다는 목표다.
국립부경대는 이 같은 전략 모델을 실현하기 위해 이른바 ‘드래곤 밸리(Dragon Valley)’로 불리는 용당캠퍼스의 지산학연 연계 인프라를 중심으로 지역 간 초광역 협력에 나설 계획이다.
현재 용당캠퍼스에 입주해 있는 기업들을 포함해, 블루 UIC에 57곳, 그린 UIC에 108곳 등 총 165개 기업과 기관들이 ‘Dragon Open UIC’ 추진에 동참하기로 했다.
국립부경대는 라이즈사업단을 중심으로 산업체와 지자체, 혁신기관이 모두 참여하는 ‘Dragon Open UIC’ 운영위원회를 구성해 기관 간 연계를 비롯해 산학 공동 연구, 전문 인력 양성, 정책 협의, 연구 인프라 공유 등을 총괄할 예정이다.
배상훈 총장은 “Open UIC의 성공 여부가 부산형 라이즈의 성패를 좌우한다고 봐도 과언이 아닌 만큼, Dragon Open UIC가 초광역 협업의 기틀이 될 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다.”라고 밝혔다. <부경투데이>
Pukyong National University Leads Busan-style RISE with ‘Dragon Open UIC’
- UIC Launch Ceremony Held on the 29th; Yongdang Campus to Become a Hub of University-Industry Collaboration
Pukyong National University (President Bae Sang-hoon) has stepped up to lead the core model of Busan’s RISE (Regional Innovation System and Education) initiative through Open UIC (University-Industry Collaboration), focusing on the marine and energy sectors.
On September 29, PKNU’s RISE Project Group held the Dragon Open UIC Launch Ceremony at the Pukyong Convention Hall and declared its two-pronged strategy: ‘Blue UIC’ and ‘Green UIC’.
Busan’s ‘Open UIC’ is a co-growth framework that fosters an innovation-driven regional industrial cluster ecosystem. It enables universities to proactively collaborate with local industries based on demand, under an open and cooperative model.
Pukyong National University’s Dragon Open UIC is a supra-regional cooperation strategy model designed to lead this core initiative of Busan Metropolitan City. The Blue UIC strategy focuses on PKNU’s traditional strength in the fisheries and marine sector, while the Green UIC strategy specializes in the advanced engineering field of energy technology.
The Blue UIC strategy envisions going beyond the traditional fisheries industry to foster marine unicorn companies through the development of smart technologies such as blue food and aquafarms, ultimately aiming to become a global hub for marine innovation.
The Green UIC strategy aims to establish a global energy tech value chain innovation hub through interdisciplinary research in fields such as secondary batteries, power semiconductors, and mobility, in connection with regional cooperation.
Pukyong National University (PKNU) plans to lead interregional cooperation by utilizing the university？industry？research collaboration infrastructure at its Yongdang Campus, commonly referred to as “Dragon Valley,” to realize this strategic model.
Currently, a total of 165 companies and institutions―including those already based in the Yongdang Campus―have agreed to participate in the Dragon Open UIC initiative, with 57 partners in Blue UIC and 108 in Green UIC.
Pukyong National University will establish a Dragon Open UIC Steering Committee, led by its RISE Project Group and joined by industries, local governments, and innovation institutions. This committee will oversee inter-organizational cooperation, joint industry？academia research, professional workforce training, policy coordination, and shared research infrastructure.
