국립부경대, 개교 80주년·통합 30주년 기념 희귀 역사 자료 공개
- 역사 자료 수집 공모전 개최 … 원양어업 개척 백경호 사진, 조병화 시인 친필 교가 원고 등

국립부경대학교(총장 배상훈)가 내년 개교 80주년 및 통합 30주년을 앞두고 희귀 역사 자료들을 공개했다.
국립부경대 기록관은 지난 5월부터 6개월간 역사 자료 수집 공모전을 열고, 당선작으로 원양어업 승선실습 및 백경호 사진, 조병화 시인의 친필 교가 원고 등을 최근 발표했다.
당선작 중 1967년 원양어업 승선실습 및 백경호 사진은 국립부경대의 전신 중 하나인 부산수산대 시절부터 진행된 해양 실습 현장을 담은 원본 자료다.
1960년대 원양어업이 우리나라 주요 산업으로 떠오르면서, 당시 정부는 국가 예산의 0.1%를 투입해 최첨단 장비를 탑재한 부산수산대의 새 실습선 백경호를 건조했다. 학생들을 태운 백경호는 1966년 우리나라 최초로 북태평양 원양어업 시험조업에 성공하며 수산해양 강국의 문을 열었다.
이번에 수집한 사진 자료는 이듬해인 1967년에 진행된 원양어업 승선실습 현장을 촬영한 것으로, 대학 교육은 물론 우리나라 원양어업 역사의 중요한 자료로 평가된다.
우리나라 대표 서정시인 중 한 명인 조병화 시인의 친필 원고도 수집됐다. 조병화 시인은 1996년 부산수산대와 부산공업대의 통합으로 탄생한 국립부경대의 새 교가를 작사했다.
이 자료는 당시 국어국문학과 남송우 교수의 요청을 받은 조병화 시인이 교가를 작사해 편지로 보내온 원고의 원본이다. 조병화 시인은 진리와 청춘의 힘찬 기상을 담아 국립부경대 교가를 작사했다.
이와 함께 1965년 부산수산대 어로학회가 발간한 학회지 창간호 원본, 1996년 통합 전후의 각종 간행물과 공문, 부산공업대 학생회 수첩 등도 선정됐다. 이 자료들은 대학 통합 당시의 학교생활을 생생하게 보여주는 자료라는 평가를 받았다.
국립부경대는 수집자료들을 데이터베이스화하고, 대학 역사 전시와 연구, 기념행사 등을 위한 주요 콘텐츠로 활용할 계획이다. <부경투데이>

Pukyong National University Unveils Rare Historical Materials for 80th Anniversary and 30th Year of Integration

Pukyong National University (President Bae Sang-hoon) has released a collection of rare historical materials ahead of its 80th founding anniversary and the 30th anniversary of its merger next year.
The university’s archives office held a historical materials collection contest over six months starting last May and recently announced the winning entries, which include original photos of deep-sea fishing training aboard the Baekgyeong-ho and a handwritten manuscript of the school anthem by poet Cho Byung-hwa.
Among the winning entries, the 1967 photos of the deep-sea fishing training aboard the Baekgyeong-ho are original materials documenting maritime field training conducted since the era of Busan National Fisheries University, one of Pukyong National University’s predecessor institutions.
In the 1960s, as deep-sea fishing emerged as one of Korea’s key industries, the government invested 0.1% of the national budget to construct Baekgyeong-ho, a new training vessel for the Busan Fisheries College, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. In 1966, Baekgyeong-ho, carrying student trainees, successfully conducted Korea’s first trial deep-sea fishing operation in the North Pacific, opening the door to Korea’s rise as a maritime powerhouse.
The newly collected photograph captures the 1967 training voyage for deep-sea fishing and is regarded as a valuable historical resource not only for university education but also for the history of Korea’s deep-sea fishing industry.
Also collected is the handwritten manuscript of renowned Korean lyric poet Cho Byung-hwa, who wrote the lyrics for Pukyong National University’s new school anthem in 1996, following the merger of Busan Fisheries College and Busan National University of Technology.
This manuscript is the original version of the school anthem lyrics, written and sent by poet Cho Byung-hwa in a letter at the request of Professor Nam Song-woo from the Department of Korean Language and Literature. In his lyrics, Cho Byung-hwa captured the vibrant spirit of truth and youth to represent Pukyong National University.
Alongside this, other selected items include the first issue of the Journal of Fisheries Science published in 1965 by the Fisheries Society of Busan Fisheries College, various publications and official documents from around the time of the 1996 merger, and a student council notebook from Busan National University of Technology. These materials are highly regarded for vividly illustrating campus life during the university’s consolidation period.
Pukyong National University plans to digitize these collected items and utilize them as key content for historical exhibitions, research, and commemorative events. <Pukyong Today>
