국립부경대, 개교 80주년 기념 엠블럼 공개

국립부경대학교(총장 배상훈)가 2026년 개교 80주년을 앞두고 기념 엠블럼을 공개했다.
국립부경대는 지난 11월부터 개교 80주년 기념 엠블럼 디자인 공모전을 열고, 최근 당선작을 기반으로 디자인을 고도화해 엠블럼을 최종 확정했다.
이 엠블럼은 국립부경대의 상징동물인 향유고래와 기존 심볼마크인 나침반을 숫자 80과 함께 디자인한 것이다. 80주년을 맞아 밝은 미래를 열어가는 힘찬 기상을 시각화했다.
국립부경대는 대한민국 최초의 수산 고등교육기관으로 출발한 부산수산대와, 최초의 근대식 공업기술 교육기관으로 출발한 부산공업대가 종합국립대 최초로 통합하며 탄생했다. 부산 최초의 대학으로서 지역 발전과 국가 발전을 이끈 인재들을 배출해 온 요람으로 인정받는다.
국립부경대의 전신인 두 대학은 각각 1941년, 1924년에 설립돼 창학의 역사는 100년이 넘지만, 두 대학 통합 후 개교 기점을 광복 이후인 1946년으로 합의하면서 내년에 개교 80주년을 맞게 됐다. 통합의 역사도 1996년 이후 내년이면 30년을 맞는다.
국립부경대는 내년 80주년을 위대한 여정과 새로운 도약의 해로 삼아 연구중심대학, AX 혁신대학, 글로벌 혁신대학 등의 비전을 본격적으로 추진할 계획이다.
국립부경대는 이번 엠블럼을 각종 80주년 기념행사를 비롯해 기부 릴레이, 팸플릿, 온라인 콘텐츠 등에 활용하며 대학의 역사와 비전을 대내외에 적극 알릴 예정이다. <부경투데이>
Pukyong National University Unveils Its 80th Anniversary Emblem
- Symbolizes a Bold Spirit Rising Toward the Future
Pukyong National University (President Bae Sang-Hoon) has revealed its commemorative emblem ahead of the university’s 80th founding anniversary in 2026.
Since last November, Pukyong National University has hosted an open design contest for the 80th anniversary emblem, and has now finalized the emblem by enhancing and refining the winning concept selected through the competition.
The emblem features a visual motif combining the university’s symbolic animal, the sperm whale, and its existing core symbol, the compass, designed alongside the number 80. It visually represents the university’s bold and aspiring spirit as it moves toward a bright future in celebration of its 80th anniversary.
Pukyong National University was born through the historic integration of Busan Fisheries College, South Korea’s first higher education institution dedicated to marine and fisheries studies, and Busan Technical College, the nation’s first modern industrial engineering education institute ―marking the first-ever merger among comprehensive national universities in the region. As the first university established in Busan, it has long been recognized as a cradle of talent, producing generations of leaders and professionals who have contributed to both regional growth and national development.
Although the founding histories of the two predecessor institutions each span more than a century, the university collectively agreed to define its official founding year as 1946, following Korea’s liberation. Based on this milestone, the university will celebrate its 80th founding anniversary in 2026, while its legacy of integration will also reach 30 years since 1996, marking another meaningful chapter in its institutional history.
Pukyong National University plans to make 2026, its 80th anniversary year, a milestone period defined by a great journey and a new leap forward, accelerating its vision as a research-focused university, an AX (AI Transformation) innovation university, and a global innovation-driven institution.
The university will utilize the newly unveiled 80th anniversary emblem across major commemorative initiatives―including anniversary events, the ongoing Donation Relay Campaign, printed pamphlets, and a wide range of online content―to actively communicate its institutional history, achievements, and forward-looking vision both within Korea and to the international community. <Pukyong Today>
