국립부경대, BK21 신규 시범사업 ‘이공 우수인재 성장경로 지원 사업’ 선정
- 2027년 2월까지 사업비 지원 받아 이공계 우수인재 발굴·육성
- 학부부터 대학원까지 전 주기 성장경로 지원 기반 마련
국립부경대학교(총장 배상훈)가 교육부와 한국연구재단이 추진하는 4단계 BK21(두뇌한국21) 사업의 2026년 신규 시범사업인 ‘이공 우수인재 성장경로 지원 사업’에 선정됐다.
이번 사업은 이공계 분야 우수인재를 학부 단계부터 조기에 발굴하고 체계적으로 지원해 학문후속세대로 성장할 수 있도록 돕기 위해 올해 새롭게 도입됐다. 학부생부터 대학원생, 신진 연구자에 이르기까지 연구 역량을 단계적으로 키울 수 있는 성장경로를 구축하는 것이 핵심이다.
교육부와 한국연구재단은 이 사업에 신청한 28개 대학 가운데 국립부경대를 비롯해 고려대, 성균관대, 연세대, 중앙대, 포항공대, 부산대, 연세대 미래캠퍼스, 전남대, 충남대 등 전국 10개 대학을 예비 선정했다.
선정 대학들은 2027년 2월까지 총 84억 8,000만 원 규모의 사업비를 지원받아 이공계 우수인재 발굴과 연구역량 강화 프로그램을 운영하게 된다.
국립부경대는 이번 사업 선정에 따라 ‘이공 우수인재 R&D 전주기 성장파트너’라는 비전을 설정하고, 학부부터 박사후연구원 단계까지 단절 없이 이어지는 이공 우수인재의 전주기 성장경로 구현에 나선다. ‘싹트고, 꽃피고, 숲이되다’라는 3단계 체계를 구축해 지역과 연계한 우수 인재를 양성하는 것이 목표다.
교육부와 한국연구재단은 오는 7월 6일까지 이의신청 절차를 거친 후 7월 중 최종 선정 결과를 확정할 예정이다.
한편, 4단계 BK21 사업은 대학원 교육과 연구 역량 강화를 통해 세계 수준의 연구중심대학을 육성하고 우수 석·박사급 연구인력을 양성하기 위한 국가 핵심 인재양성 사업이다. 2020년부터 2027년까지 7년간 추진되며, 현재 전국 63개 대학 595개 교육연구단과 대학원혁신사업 참여 대학을 지원하고 있다. <부경투데이>

― Establishes a Comprehensive Support System Covering Academic Growth from Undergraduate to Graduate Studies
Pukyong National University (President Sang-Hoon Bae) has been selected for the “Support Project for the Development Pathways of Outstanding Science and Engineering Talent,” a new pilot initiative launched in 2026 under the Phase 4 BK21 (Brain Korea 21) Program, administered by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF).
Introduced this year, the project aims to identify and systematically support outstanding students in science and engineering from the undergraduate level, enabling them to develop into the next generation of academic researchers. Its core objective is to establish a structured talent development pathway that progressively strengthens research capabilities from undergraduate students to graduate students and early-career researchers.
Among the 28 universities that applied for the program, the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) selected 10 universities for preliminary designation, including Pukyong National University, Korea University, Sungkyunkwan University, Yonsei University, Chung-Ang University, POSTECH, Pusan National University, Yonsei University Mirae Campus, Chonnam National University, and Chungnam National University.
The selected universities will receive a total of KRW 8.48 billion in project funding through February 2027 to operate programs for identifying outstanding science and engineering students and strengthening their research capabilities.
Following its selection, Pukyong National University has established the vision of becoming an “R&D Lifelong Growth Partner for Outstanding Science and Engineering Talent.” Under this vision, the university will build a seamless talent development pathway spanning from the undergraduate level to postdoctoral researchers. Through a three-stage framework―“Take Root, Bloom, and Grow into a Forest”―the project aims to cultivate outstanding talent in close partnership with the local community.
The Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) will complete the objection review process by July 6 and announce the final list of selected universities later in July.
The Phase 4 BK21 (Brain Korea 21) Program is a flagship national initiative designed to foster world-class research-oriented universities and cultivate highly qualified master’s and doctoral researchers by strengthening graduate education and research capacity.
