국립부경대, 외국인 유학생 전담·특화 ‘글로벌혁신대학’ 신설
- 8개 학과에 400명 선발 … AI, K-컬처 등 학문 선택권 확대
- 유학생 전담 첫 단과대학 … 글로벌 경쟁력 강화 나서

국립부경대학교(총장 배상훈)가 외국인 유학생만 전담하는 단과대학 ‘글로벌혁신대학(GIC: Global Innovation College)’을 내년 신설한다.
국립부경대는 외국인 유학생 유치와 체계적인 지원을 위해 최근 글로벌혁신대학 설립을 확정하고, 오는 10월 신입생 모집을 시작해 내년 2027학년도부터 본격 운영에 나선다.
국립부경대는 지금까지 국제교류본부와 글로벌자율전공학부에서 외국인 유학생을 유치·관리해 왔다. 국립부경대는 이번 단과대학 신설로 외국인 유학생들의 다양한 학문 수요에 대응하고 지원을 확대할 계획이다.
이에 따라 외국인 유학생들의 선호에 맞춰 영어트랙과 한국어트랙 등 1개 학부와 7개 학과가 이 단과대학에 개설된다. 신입생 선발 규모는 매년 400명(정원외)이다.
신입생들은 국제자유전공학부로 입학해 글로벌혁신대학 내 7개 학과로 전공 배정을 받거나, 언어능력 등 전과 요건이 충족되면 타 학과로도 전과가 가능하다. 글로벌혁신대학 내 학과는 영어트랙으로는 △컴퓨터사이언스·인공지능학과 △글로벌물류SCM학과 △관광호스피탤러티경영학과, 한국어트랙으로는 △글로벌미디어커뮤니케이션학과 △K-컬처학과 △글로벌기술경영학과 △글로벌지속가능공학과가 개설돼 공학·인문계열에 걸쳐 학문 선택권이 확대된다.
또한, 외국인 유학생이 늘어남에 따라 지원 체계와 교육의 질을 동시에 강화할 예정이다. 조교 인력 확충, 장학금 개편, 멘토링 및 취업·정주 지원 프로그램으로 밀착형 지원을 제공하는 한편, 전임교원 중심의 수업 운영, 영어 교양과목 개발, 대학원 석·박사 과정의 영어·중국어 트랙 신설을 통해 전문성을 갖춘 교육 환경을 구축할 예정이다.
국립부경대에는 올해 4월 기준 학부과정에 718명을 비롯해 학위과정과 연수과정, 복수학위 등에 63개국 1,707명의 외국인 유학생이 재학 중이며, 이번 단과대학 신설을 통해 앞으로 3,000명 규모로 외국인 유학생을 확대해 나갈 계획이다. <부경투데이>

Pukyong National University, led by President Sang-Hoon Bae, will establish the Global Innovation College (GIC) next year, becoming the university’s first college dedicated exclusively to international students.
To strengthen the recruitment of international students and provide more systematic support, Pukyong National university recently finalized plans to establish the Global Innovation College. Student admissions will begin in October, with the college set to officially open for the 2027 academic year.
Until now, Pukyong National University has recruited and supported international students through its Office of International Affairs and the School of Global Interdisciplinary Studies. With the establishment of the new college, the university plans to broaden academic opportunities and expand support services tailored to the diverse needs of international students.
The Global Innovation College will comprise one school and seven departments, offering both English-track and Korean-track programs to meet students’ academic preferences. The college will admit 400 international students annually through a special admissions quota.
Incoming students will initially enroll in the School of Global Interdisciplinary Studies and later be assigned to one of the seven departments within the Global Innovation College. Students who meet the requirements for changing majors, including language proficiency standards, may also transfer to departments outside the college. The college’s English-track programs will include the Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, the Department of Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management. Its Korean-track programs will consist of the Department of Global Media and Communication, the Department of K-Culture, the Department of Global Technology Management, and the Department of Global Sustainability Engineering. These programs will broaden students’ academic options across both engineering and humanities-related fields.
As the number of international students continues to grow, the university plans to strengthen both its student support system and the quality of education. It will provide more personalized assistance by expanding its administrative support staff, restructuring scholarship programs, and offering mentoring as well as employment and settlement support. At the same time, the university plans to build a more specialized educational environment by placing full-time faculty members at the center of course instruction, developing English-language general education courses, and introducing English- and Chinese-track master’s and doctoral programs.
As of April this year, Pukyong National University had 1,707 international students from 63 countries enrolled in degree, non-degree training, and dual-degree programs, including 718 undergraduate students.
