국립부경대·국립한국해양대, 석·박사 공동학위과정 운영
- 2학기부터 운영 … 내년에는 해수부 등 해양수산 전문인력 대상 과정 개발

국립부경대학교(총장 배상훈)와 국립한국해양대학교(총장 류동근)가 해양수산 과학기술 전문 인재 양성을 위한 공동학위과정을 운영한다.
양 대학은 지난 4월 ‘해양수산 발전 선도를 위한 상호협약’을 체결한 데 이어, 7월 ‘해양수산 과학기술 전문인재 양성을 위한 대학원 공동학위과정 운영협약’을 체결하고, 공동 교육과정 운영과 정책수요 맞춤형 인재 양성에 함께 나서기로 했다.
양 대학은 지난 4월부터 대학원 공동학위 운영을 위해 학내 수요 조사를 거쳐 국립부경대 기계시스템공학과와 국립한국해양대 기관공학과, 기관시스템공학과를 공동학위 운영학과로 선정했다. 이 학과들은 올해 2학기부터 공동학위과정을 운영하며, 이 학과 대학원생들은 양 대학 석·박사 학위를 동시에 받을 수 있다.
양 대학은 첨단조선 핵심 분야인 기계시스템(기관) 분야를 시작으로 공동학위 운영학과를 단계적으로 확대해 나가며, 각 대학의 교육·연구 역량을 연계한 해양수산 과학기술 전문인재 양성 체계를 구축할 계획이다.
특히 두 대학은 정부의 해양수산 정책과 부산시 전략사업을 뒷받침할 전문인력 양성을 위해 해양수산부 직원을 대상으로 교육수요조사를 한 데 이어, 정책 현장의 수요를 반영한 맞춤형 교육과정을 공동 개발해 2027년부터 운영할 예정이다.
새로 개발할 공동학위과정은 해양수산 정책과 과학기술을 연계한 실무 중심 교육을 통해 현직 해양수산 전문인력의 전문성을 높이는 것은 물론, 국가 해양수산 정책 추진 역량 강화에도 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
국립부경대와 국립한국해양대는 공동학위과정 운영을 비롯해 공동 연구와 교육, 인적 교류를 지속적으로 확대하고, 해양수산 분야를 선도할 미래 인재 양성과 국가 경쟁력 강화를 위해 협력을 이어갈 계획이다. <부경투데이>
Pukyong National University and Korea Maritime & Ocean University to Offer Joint Master’s and Doctoral Degree Programs
-Programs to begin in the second semester, with new courses for marine and fisheries professionals, including Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries personnel, to be developed next year
Pukyong National University (President Sang-Hoon Bae) and Korea Maritime & Ocean University (President Dong-Geun Ryu) will jointly operate degree programs to cultivate professionals in marine and fisheries science and technology.
Following the signing of a Mutual Cooperation Agreement for Advancing Marine and Fisheries Development in April, the two universities signed an Agreement on the Operation of Joint Graduate Degree Programs for Training Professionals in Marine and Fisheries Science and Technology in July. Through the agreement, they will jointly operate academic programs and foster talent tailored to policy needs.
Since April, the two universities have conducted internal demand surveys to establish the joint graduate degree programs and selected the Department of Mechanical Systems Engineering at Pukyong National University and the Department of Marine Engineering and Department of Marine Engineering Systems at Korea Maritime & Ocean University as participating departments. The programs will begin in the second semester of this year, allowing graduate students in these departments to earn master’s or doctoral degrees from both universities.
Beginning with mechanical systems (marine engineering), a key field in advanced shipbuilding, the two universities plan to gradually expand the number of departments participating in the joint degree programs. By linking their respective educational and research capabilities, they aim to establish a system for cultivating professionals in marine and fisheries science and technology.
In particular, to foster professionals who can support the government’s marine and fisheries policies and Busan’s strategic initiatives, the two universities conducted a survey of educational needs among employees of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries. Based on the needs identified in the policy field, they will jointly develop customized curricula and begin offering them in 2027.
The newly developed joint degree programs are expected to enhance the expertise of current marine and fisheries professionals through practice-oriented education that links marine and fisheries policy with science and technology. They are also expected to contribute to strengthening the nation’s capacity to implement marine and fisheries policies.
Pukyong National University and Korea Maritime & Ocean University plan to continue expanding cooperation in joint degree programs, research, education, and personnel exchanges, while working together to cultivate future talent who will lead the marine and fisheries sector and strengthen national competitiveness. <Pukyong Today>
