Nice young people who repair needy neighbors' houses The eco-volunteer workers, approximately 54 students, opened the welcoming ceremony on 17th July at 10:30am in the Hyorim Hall which is on the 2nd floor of the Future Hall. Park Maeng Eon, the President of PKNU, and Lee Jong Chul, the Head of Namgu attended this ceremony This program was first launched in 2006. Pukyong eco-volunteer workers began visiting needy neighbors' houses and social welfare organizations to conduct many activities and repair old houses with papering, cleaning, painting, gardening, and repairing furniture. At the end of the ceremony, the workers divided into 3 teams, and began their activity to visit 6 needy homes for repair work, continuing until the 20th of this month. Mr Byun (16), a child breadwinner, will be the first beneficiary of this help with ceiling, papering, and cleaning. In addition to repairing facilities such as fences and gardening and the'exercising with children' activity in the two social welfare organizations (including Dongsanwon in Gwangan dong, and Suyong gu), volunteers will have time together with children in the facilities. The eco team will be supported by the PKNU Construction Department and the General Affairs Department in order to learn professional techniques for dealing with electricity, paper, and gardening,. They will also be assisted by the Busan Namgu Office for a social worker, vehicle, cleaning tools and garbage pickup. A representative of the eco-team, So Ra who is a 21 year old girl and a 2nd grade student of Food Science and Technology, said that she applied to join the team again this year, because she thought that she could have a chance to directly help needy neighbours with her hands.
