"One should feel shame when they sleep more than 5 hours"
On this day, President Kim emphasized, "I decided to stand here to give good advice as your senior who graduated from this university and as the President of PKNU. I want you to use your university term as a time of immersion and passion." Achieving the highest score in his department, reading as many books as he could, and exercising hard were his goals when he was a freshman. He ran 7~8km in the morning, so he got the nickname "Skeleton". Even now, because he worked out hard when he was young, he doesn't need to take care of his health, so he can focus on his business. It means that students need to create a healthy body when they are young so that they can remain healthy throughout their lives. Furthermore, he is known as the man who read a lot of books. He bought as many as he could from the clerk when he didn't have books. After focusing on his major, he achieved the highest score in his department, and received the Dong Won scholarship in the second semester of freshman.(The scholarship of Dongwon is from the President of the Dong-won Corporation, Kim Jae-chul, who is also the honorary President of PKNU to support his juniors.) He also said that it was important to meet good people and behave positively throughout the university term, and that students needed to step further for their goal with belief about themselves. He especially mentioned that managing time in the university term is necessary. He suggested some plans such as 'not watching soap operas' and 'sleeping less than 5 hours'. He said, "Now you may feel that you have a lot of time, but after graduation, you might feel that you have the least amount of time". He also said that when he woke up at 5am and looked outside, he could see that people are in a hurry even at that early time of the morning, and if students slept more than 5 hours, they should feel shame because if someone does it, it means that they were wasting time which is the most important capital that you can have. President Kim emphasized '不忍不成' to get to the goal which means if someone can't endure to do something else, they will fail to get to the goal. In the process of learning new studies, people should stand from all the temptations and difficulties, and even enjoy being isolated when they are studying. Kim Young-seup, who was discharged from the navy, also mentioned that the person that he respects the most is General Lee Sun-shin because the General didn't blame his background, even though his family had collapsed. Also, he didn't blame. Furthermore, he didn't blame his health, even though he had suffered from a chronic illness, and he didn't blame anyone even when he fought with only 12 warships against 133 of Japanese navy. He said that he had encountered many students who couldn't answer the question, "Do you have dream?" and suggested that students write notes about their dream and then read them every day in order to remind themselves and encourage themselves. "Do what you really want to do. Then, invisible hands will help you with miracle power. If you have a firm belief that you will be well and continue to endure the difficulties, you will reach the goal," he said. Meanwhile, 'The lecture of 21st century's leadership' which is run by the Pukyong Center for Liberal Education and Educational Development is held at 3pm in the afternoon every Thursday in the great hall with lectures from renowned celebrities.<Pukyong Today> |
