In the 8th engineering building of PKNU The only LED authorized testing institution in Yeongnam area has started its regular operation. PKNU LED-Marine Fusion Technology Research Center (chief Young-Moon Yu) had a signboard hanging ceremony for the LED authorized testing institution and held a workshop in the 8th Engineering Building of Yongdang Campus at 2 in the afternoon on July 15th. This institution has been authorized as the first LED lights testing institution in the southeast area and Daegyeong region. It was successful with its evaluations in regards to the management and quality control system of the institution and its capability of testing equipment and the environment. The evaluationwas recently conducted by KOLAS (Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme) from the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards. Therefore, test reports from this centre about the lighting equipment’s energy efficiency, circumstance and reliability of electric testing, light source, color, and chromaticity of optics and intensity of light measurement will take effect not only domestically but in about 80 countries belonging to the ILAC (International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation) and APLAC (Asia-Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation). Professor Yu said that he is planning to retain the center’s standard tests of water proofing, dusting, extremely low temperature, vibration, and thermal shock this year, and retain the tests of explosion proofing, susceptibility tests, and national defense until next year. He also said that he wants to improve the center as an authorized institution by a foreign institution in regards to its capabilities, so that it can contribute to LED-Marine Fusion Business’ development with high technology. On this day, to celebrate the signboard hanging ceremony, the workshop which was about finding technology and standards to invent high-reliability and high-performance LED-Marine Fusion Light Product was held. In the workshop, various presentations were conducted: present condition and strategy of LED-marine fusion technology from Young-Moon Yu, KS standard development of LED lights for vessels from Mi-Ryung Jo of Korean Lights Laboratory, a case study of LED lights for vessels from Sung-Hoon Jo who is a vessel inspector of Korean Register of Shipping, standard development of LED lights for vessels from Kyong-Seok Kil of Korean Maritime University, basics of gas explosions from Sung-Eun Lee of Hoseo University, and KC certification for LED lights from Pyung-Sik Oh chief of center of Korean Testing Certification.<Pukyong today> |
