PKNU focuses on the development of a new efficient lighthouse lantern. It has attracted attention due to the development of a new type of lighthouse lantern which is more efficient than the exsisting LED (light-emitting diode) type. A lighthouse lantern is a machine that lights up a lighthouse or a buoy for a sign
Unlike the conventional LED lighting devices using a few hundred LED chips, the 200 ㎜ diameter marine LED lighting device, developed by Professor Yang Hyun-kyung (LED Convergence Engineering Major, Photo) of PKNU Graduate School of Science and Technology Convergence, satisfies the standard brightness . It is essential and important for the marine lights to illuminate the light horizontally across the all directions. The existing lanterns consist of three rows of closely packed LED chips and a fresnel lens that collects light horizontally around the cylinder. Therefore, LED chips are used in a large amount, resulting in high power consumption and high lens cost. On the other hand, the LEDs developed by Professor Yang have four LED chips placed upside in the center of the cylinder. In this way, the parabolic reflector and the conical reflector coated with aluminum are horizontally reflected in all directions.
Professor Yang said, "I was thinking that I could make a lighter without an expensive Fresnel lens and got a good result." He said, "We will continue to work with the company to develop a bigger standard sizes." Founded in 1997, Ducksung Marine Development Co., Ltd. is specialized in exploration of submarine cable, construction of road marking facilities, underwater exploration and marine construction. The ceremony for signing the technology transfer contract was held on the morning of the 13th in the meeting room of the 5th floor of the Hanmir Building. <Pukyong Today> |
