A retiring professor attracts everyone’s attention for donating 25 million won to university. "It's my turn to give back to the school that made me now."
"Having spent 30 years at Pukyong National University and thinking about my retirement, it was thanks to all the people around me, including my family, my disciples, my colleagues, and my assistant, who made me stay here. I wanted to repay this appreciation in any way, so I made donation to the school.", professor Yoon said. After graduating from the National Fisheries University of Busan (the former of PKNU), professor Yoon worked at the Agency for Defense Development (ADD) and received a master's and doctoral degree from Florida Atlantic University (FAU). In 1990, he joined Pukyong National University and he have been teaching students for 30 years. He has been recognized as a specialist in the field of underwater acoustics such as the president of the Acoustical Society of Korea and the Director of Acoustic Vibration Engineering at Pukyong National University. Professor Yoon said, "I hope this scholarship could help a little bit of students who have dreamed in this place where I spent most of my life." Following Professor Yoon's wishes, Pukyong National University plans to send 5 million won scholarship each year to third grade students of department of Information and Communications Engineering for the next five years. He said, "Not to think 'What if I do not?' but 'Let's start from me.', I plan to do garbage collection service on the beach after my retirement. I want to live in a way to make a society where beautiful hearts gather together." and smiled brightly. <Pukyong Today> |
