Alumni of PKNU who are active as ’environment experts’ donated Ten million thirty thousand won to their alma-mater Professor Jeong Yong-hyeon (age 60) of the Department of Ecological Engineering at Pukyong National University and Kim Ok-hyun, the CEO of Best Environmental Safety & Health Consulting (BESHC) (age 59, Class of 82’ of the Combined Dept. of Environmental Engineering) visited university president’s office on the 3rd floor of the Administration building at Pukyong National University and delivered Ten million thirty thousand won to President Jang Young-soo, asking him to spend it for the development of the university. This development fund was made with the sincerity of 8 Pukyong National University’s alumni who made a united effort to support, including Professor Jeong Yong-hyeon, the center chief of the Busan Green Environment Center at Pukyong National University, and Kim Ok-hyun, the member of the technical advisory group of the Green Environment Center. Professor Jeong Yong-hyeon said, "Alumni, who have been active in the environment field, have developed interest and pride in our alma-mater since we participated in environmental projects hosted by the alma mater. Finally, we have agreed with donation." The Busan Green Environment Center, located in Pukyong National University, is a regional center designated by the Ministry of Environment and was established in 2005 to solve environmental problems in Busan and play a central role in research. The center is conducting research and development projects, environmental support projects, and educational promotion projects, and dozens of external experts are working as technical advisors. Kim Ok-hyun, the CEO of BESHC, said, "I am always proud that I graduated from Pukyong National University, the first in Korea to have environment-related majors such as the Department of Environmental Engineering and the Department of Ecological Engineering. I hope this donation will be of little help to the development of the alma-mater that is also working on the development of the environment field by operating the Busan Green Environment Center." Pukyong National University plans to use the development funds received this time for the development of the university, such as training future leaders, supporting academic research projects, and the upgradation of facilities. <Pukyong Today> |
